Heavily inspired by improvisation and letting the music flow through you, this release encapsulates the practice of experimentation through restraint and embracing structure. Kobe's journey is a subtle dance between crafting unique sounds, exploring rhythmic intensity, and staying true to form. It is the subtle things that have the most meaningful impact and the space between words that is revered within a musical context. Working as a lighting designer and sound tech at renowned clubs like Smartbar and The Mid has given Kobe a thorough understanding of the flow of the dance floor. Rooted in the essence of techno, his sonic explorations quietly reflect the delicate intricacies of sound design within. Kobe's modest dedication to building a collection of sonic experimentations, showcased on labels like Trax Research, Double Vision Records, Darkroom Bureau, and Dingning Records (his own cassette imprint), stems from a genuine love for learning and an enduring sense of excitement.

🦐BAIT6-VEP2-ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY STEPS🦐 
Bait’s second VEP (Various EP) is a 4-track dive into a rather modern phenomenon: 150 dubstep, as DJs and crowds seem to be enjoying the faster bass sounds, yet broken rhythms and heavy halftime pulses. For this release we’ve got L.A.’s rising bass-music star @carreo, specialised in racing wobblers, who recently released her second solo EP on her label @fastatwork (first one was on Darwin's @specrecords). Track 2 is Berlin-based Femme Bass Mafia member @gaia-formella’s first ever release, a reflection of her upbringing in and around London, drawing inspiration from playful breaks to deep wobbly bass. Third track is by @fastcastle label captain Gent1le $oul, also Berlin-based and pushing hybrid dubstep in the German capital with hot vinyl releases and parties. Last but not least, @splt_music’s mental banger “Grill Party” that Beatrice M. happened to discover in Laksa’s Truant podcast (https://soundcloud.com/truants/truancy-volume-318-laksa) and reached out after dropping an “ID?” comment on soundcloud. The Lyon-based producer never misses, his tracks have been played out multiple times by Garçon and Agonis, in the continuity of merging bass and techno, always with an aspect of prog.

Kobe Dupree unveils debut album, ‘Voice From The Inside’, arriving 21st May 2025. It lands on fellow Chicagoan
DJ Hyperactive’s 4Trk Recordings, and features twelve tracks already supported by the likes of Dustin Zahn, Truncate, Korea Town Acid, Amanda Mussi & more, coming out on wax alongside the digital release.
“Voice From The Inside is a hypnotic journey through the layered landscapes of the mind, where subtle modulation and atmospheric textures weave together in immersive rhythms. The album invites introspection—a sonic exploration with each side presenting a diﬀerent feeling of emotive depth” - Kobe Dupree
Dupree’s cosmic ambient opener, 'Jacurutu', sinks you into deep, sub-aquatic techno hypnosis before 'Heretics' layers up alien sounds and rolling kick drums.
'Syk' brings edgy, unrelieved loops and muﬄed spoken words over more mind-melting rhythm. The supple sounds and otherworldly atmospheres continue on 'Forms', which is marbled with static electricity, with 'Interlude of Voice' marking a moment to reset amongst gorgeous celestial synth smears. The second half of the album takes in the more punchy but still perfectly loopy deep techno of 'Memory Replacement' and psychedelic swirls of 'Tongue of the Unseen'. There is a mystical charm to the harmonic tones of 'Gammu', a moodier vibe
pervades the suspensory 'Fogwood', then ' Semuta Music' traps you in tightly coiled drums and hi-hats while a backlit glow soothes the soul.
'One of Many Faces' closes with a heart-aching piano piece that gets deeply emotional.
Kobe Dupree is a techno artist from Chicago with a deep interest in sound design and minimalism. His musical experiments have been released on Trax Research, Double Vision Records and DJ Hyperactive’s 4Trk, on which he released the ‘Stimulate | Iterate’ EP in 2024. He has a hybrid approach to production, which involves using a modular rig for sound
design before moving to a DAW for arrangement and final touches, heard on the sophisticated and cerebral ‘Voice From The Inside’ album.
