For our 40th release we are very happy to present our next 12", featuring staple Midwest artist. Jason Patrick. Jason originally hails from Detroit but has called Chicago home for many years. His 'Back Channel Communications' EP exemplifies his highly refined production technique developed from years of experience as a DJ, producer, and label owner. Amalgamation opens the record heavy, brooding, and sinister; continuing with Conspire., an rhythmic exercise in drive punctuated by sparse syncopated claps. Flip the record,. JX-216· delivers hefty angular grit in his remix; and closing out the EP, Jason takes us into space with Enveloped, featuring1 expansive atmospheric themes.

The title track “Quasar” unveils a dodgy, stressed portal composed of razor sharp percussion, eerie deep-space warbles and detuned piano jabs. Next is the ever-so stubborn “Turnakit” with its menacing sub line, woozy loop & crystal clear drum kit arranged as an extended DJ tool with loads of turn-arounds making it perfect for long blends. Closing this chapter is “Tuscan Haze”, a low swung thumper thoughtfully littered with delayed laser hits, bloopy phrases and filtered celestial noises.

Contempo is thrilled to welcome the dynamic and innovative Fvndo to its imprint with his debut release, "Reasoning".

With music in his veins from a young age, Fvndo has evolved from a prodigious drummer in rock bands and philharmonics to a master of electronic soundscapes. His journey through music, punctuated by a formal education in musical creation at Lisbon's Restart institution, has culminated in a style that is both industrial and bold, marked by pure and raw techno rhythms.

Roll Dann, a veteran of the techno scene with releases on labels like Klockworks and Mord known for his aggressive yet enveloping style, Adds a potent remix to the lineup.

Fvndo's EP showcases the ability to craft tracks that captivate and engage, featuring complex textures and unique spatial qualities. The title track, "Reasoning," sets the stage with its rhythmic groove and precise drum patterns. Roll Dann's remix of "Reasoning" adds a burst of energy, featuring high-octane beats and meticulous textural details, perfect for peak-time play. "Specificity" maintains the hypnotic mood with looping sequences, while "Decipher" energizes with sharp percussion and lively rhythms. "Criterion" deepens the vibe with hypnotic textures and swirling synths, "Obedience" closes the EP with a strong, pounding beat and deep atmospheric sounds.
