My next guest on Yax Invites is Sibel, a young French DJ, co-founder of Metanoia Collective and member of the Unit Soeurs project (collective of female DJs in Lyon). 

Musician since her youngest age with the practice of violin, she became passionate about electronic music and Djing, which represents for her new means of expression. 

Her musical aesthetic is tinged with a sense of rhythm and groovy vibes, through a hypnotic, mental and dark techno. Her mix offers a variety of sounds, she delivers groovy percussion and mental techno, thought a dark atmosphere.

After the huge success of “Trepidation”, a track that still has huge support from the label boss Morttagua in his live sets, the Cypriot duo bring now a massive 3 tracker EP in “Hyperion” .  

“Hyperion”, “Bubbles” and “Kronos” are three Progressive tracks that have lots of characteristics in common and can complete each other perfectly on the same dj set. “Hyperion” has an infectious pluck riff together with a very deep groove and obscure atmospheres, “Bubbles” bri ngs lots of distorted synths for a total hypnotic state on the dance floor while “Kronos”, the last track of the ep,  brings solid peak time bass line grooves with amazing harmonies. Simply timeless!

Located on Pico Avenue near Downtown Los Angeles, Catch One originally opened in 1973 and was the longest-running black gay dance bar in the city. It now serves as one of LA’s premiere multi-purpose venues, making it an ideal space for REFORM to host 20+ Techno, House, and Experimental artists across four rooms.

Dj and producer from Los Angeles, California, Force Placement is a resident DJ and founding member of The Black Lodge, an L.A. based event collective and record label that has been pushing mutant strains of underground dance music to the masses since 2015. Known for his versatility as a DJ and live PA artist, Jason’s performances run the gamut from soulful and cerebral house music to mind-bending acid techno.

Brenda is a Chicago-based techno artist. She is A&R (Artists and Repertoire) for Format Recordings, resident DJ and co-producer of their weekly techno podcast series  Format.FM, and joint curator of the Format underground warehouse event series. 

A classically trained pianist and saxophonist, her expansive understanding of structure and rhythm allows her to draw inspiration from all kinds of music, from soulful jazz to dark, gritty drum and bass. Brenda’s talent for laying down everything from pulsing ethereal beats to jackin’ stompers demonstrate her versatility all while maintaining consistent themes of darker, harder techno.

Tom Hall is an Australian audio-visual artist, residing in Lake Arrowhead, CA. Hall’s practice is an ongoing exploration into peripheral space and time, inspired by the natural environments and non-linearity found in the everyday. Hall uses multiple approaches to reference these spaces through algorithms, sound, and imagery, developing hybrid audio-visual environments and temporal sonic adaptations.

Hall has released many recordings over the past two decades on labels such as Elli, Overlap, Arlen, Presto!?, Errorgrid and Superpang, along with exhibitions and live audio-visual tours worldwide.

Hall additionally works as a Senior Content Developer for the revered Cycling ’74, creators of the visual programming language Max/MSP & Jitter.

Part two of Pfirter's IMAGERY series. Techno with harmony and drive. 

For the past fifteen years Argentinian-born, Barcelona-based producer Juan Pablo Pfirter has been pushing steely, dark and uplifting sounds. 

Musically, Pfirter has worked his magic with focus and style, gracing the likes of CLR, Figure, Mord, Stroboscopic, and Artefacts with choice singles whilst also headlining some of the most respected electronic music bastions and events such as: Berghain, Tresor, Concrete, Awakenings and Time Warp. 

In 2006, Pfirter started his own imprint, MindTrip ,which has become an evolving techno-landscape. The label serves as both a vessel for his own output and that of his close friends and collaborators, such as Jonas Kopp, Stanislav Tolkachev, Dold, Fanon Flowers, and more.

Overall, Pfirter’s productions are always filled with the depth of energy that is needed right in the middle of the dancefloor to forget everyday life.
