Oliver Winters - Obscurity

Rising UK artists Rene Wise and Billy Turner each deliver two deep techno cuts for the sixth chapter of @mote-evolver’s ‘Parallel Series’, curated by label founder Luke Slater.

Inaugurated by Luke Slater (as L.B.Dub Corp) and ASC in 2011, ‘Parallel Series’ has continued to host split releases from the likes of Shifted, Samuli Kemppi, Bas Mooy, Chris Finke, Developer, Truncate, Sev Dah, Jeff Rushin, and more. 

For its next installment, Brighton based producer Rene Wise returns to Mote-Evolver with two tracks, having debuted on the label last year. 

Both tracks are choice cuts picked by Luke Slater who’s been hammering Wise’s demos in his sets throughout the last year.

https://soundcloud.com/angermund's kitchen smells of delicious lo-fi techno, analog synthesizers and a dash of Ghanaian drums, soaked in atmospheric and calorie-rich conditions. This is the sound of Angermund - a recipe often based on quirky sounds created from ordinary items. In time he has been known as an artist that seeks to create eclectic and organic techno. Naboens Sveler (the neighbour's pikelets) is an atmospheric, techno trip that will take you on a groovy journey inside a lofi soundscape. 
 
Flatt Matt takes the track into a deeper and more absorbing atmosphere. The deep house remix plays a little with the original sounds, adds a few breaks, and takes you further into the warm dream of a lofi world. The label boss, Minus Magnus, has picked up the pace and delivers a driving techno remix that contrasts with the other two. The main hook from the original appears in a break before it is builds back up to the running beat of 909s and a 303 bassline.

Hyperactive returns to Northern Parallels with a track that chugs and snaps through the darkness. Acid pads reverberate tumble over a swinging and unrelenting kick. Growing layers of rhythmic accents dodge in and out while the synth grows busier and more frantic.

Gabriella Vergilov's Natural Remix breaths fiery soul into the beating heart. A bare melody set this track apart from the previous instrumental pieces. The melody is provided by undulating synth lines that hover over a doubled up kick. Gabriella provides the vocals and they are as natural as the title implies.

Doubt makes his debut on Northern Parallels with previous released music on DVS1's Mistress Recordings imprint. Doubt provides a stripped down version to reveal a chrome dipped skeleton. Dry and sparse percussion, the mix takes on the mood of a mad scientist's laboratory.

Jason Patrick adds his own diverse interpretation with blending atmospheric synth stabs, seamless percussive movement, streamlined by haunting vocals riffs.

Label boss, Mike Derer wraps up the EP with a remix maintaining the feel of the original and also adding dubbed out synth line. The track launches when the percussion take over an already rollicking kick. Mike's stripped down sound reflects the mind of the machine and blares its steely emotions.

Furor Exótica live sets combine jamming vocals with floating rhythms and synthesizers, for a non-stop dancing atmosphere.

Ningyo

PWCCA has been making waves in the proper techno community lately.

Coming from Madrid, this veteran producer has been releasing under diverse aliases since a long time and has been in the tracklists of the most innovative DJs around on a constant basis. For this digital release on @oscarmulero's Warm Up Recordings, he provides an extended player comprising of 9 cuts ranging from cosmic landscapes to bleepy and space inspired techno, also including proper rythmic tools. 

The "Magnetic field" opens the stellar travel with dark processed textures and alien landscapes, setting the mood for "Graviton" which starts the flow with slow-paced beats, distorted textures and walking toms spiced with micro synthetic details. "Pulsar" begings with a bell-like Fm sequence and sharpened hi-hats until high-sweeping drones take over the arrangement in the last minutes. "Quasar" follows with swinging bass frequencies that evolve in a continuous loop until the end of the track. "EMC2" fattens the kick drum, adds a profound reverb while an hypnotic sequence grows from below alongside a groovy analog bassline. "Singularity" has a hi passed filtered sequence as starring, mutating, shaping and evolving constantly. Drones and textures add density to the exercise. 

"Warmhole" honours the title with darkened opaque sounds that contrast with the detailed hi-frequency percussive workout, again in a hypnotic continuously evolving arrangement. "Lepton" uses flanger and modulation to create a liquid and asymmetrical feeling and "Spheroid" closes the release as it started, with an ambient track ideal to be used as a tool or intro. 

One more time Warm Up provides serious techno in this selfie and teenage ruled days.
