Long-time Smartbar resident and American techno stalwart Jeff Derringer returns with his first release in four years. Jeff's Oktave Records is re-born with ‘Automatic,’ an EP with its sights set for the heart of the dance floor. 

In 2018, Jeff went on medical hiatus and soon found himself in the ambiguous swamp of the Covid pandemic. After passing through the gauntlet of the last four years undaunted, Jeff has returned with an exciting new direction. The three tracks on Automatic are no-nonsense shots across the bow, built for club devastation; fast-paced, analog-steeped beats made, as Jeff describes it, with as little equipment as possible. “Automatic,” “Systemic,” and “Enigmatic” show Jeff at the peak of his powers, ready to take on the new decade.

Joshua Calleja is back for his third release on Northern Parallels with “Blonde Dimension”. Joshua’s raw signature hypnotic sounds make this one his best yet and shows why he’s one of the best up-and-coming producers from Malta.

“Blonde Dimension” starts with the title track, a stripped-down peak time track that builds with acidic synth sequences, natural rhythmic percussion, and a kick drum that will test any sound system's limit.

Jason Patrick and Mike Derer pair up once again on remixing duties for “Blonde Dimension”. Jason and Mike’s signature sounds and styles blend perfectly for this peak-time banger. Their interpretation starts with a deep-in-your-chest rolling kick that carries into a modulated hypnotic synth pattern throughout the track that will bring back flashbacks or create new ones.

“Mindless Chaos” is the second original track on the release from Joshua. It’s a straightforward heavy peak time cut, with subtle grooves that evolve. Close your eyes, forget your name, and forget the world-type vibes.

The final track on the release comes from Minneapolis veteran, Steve Seuling aka Centrific. Centrific graces us with his lysergic dub remix of “Mindless Chaos”. Steve’s remix is genius and could be described in many ways. If Donato Dozzy and Hunter S. Thompson were to make music together, it would sound something like this. Eight minutes of deep, tension-building textures and grooves that expand, unfold, and open beautifully.

Atroxx is making his return to Respekt following releases on other respected techno record labels such as AnalyticTrail, Kraftek, Tronic, Unrilis, Odd Recordings and Octopus.

Based in Canada, Atroxx is known for his electrifying style which blends mind-bending basslines with pounding percussion and intense atmosphere. Along with his many solo productions, he has also collaborated with people ranging from Markantonio to Brennen Grey and this is his second release on Respekt.

"Burning Whispers" is an electro-tinged track that opens the release with high-paced hi-hats and a ferocious bassline, which driven by a thumping kick drum, forms a foundation for the trippy vocals. "Break the Mold" is a dark and percussive track with eerie synths and brutal percussion that's overlaid with muffled vocals and a dystopian lead synth.

I'm a retired City Worker from The Brantford Ontario Works Dept of 34 years of service,
I was 9 years old when I started taking drum lessons with the Ontario Conservatory Of Music,
I taught drum lessons and played in a band that played blues, country, 50's, blue grass,
I started making playlists at the age of 12 years old (1975) Pioneer Turntable, Cassette Deck, Receiver & two 50 watt Speakers.
