6head_slug - [Core Target Techno 2023 Mix]

It’s been a while since we’ve done one of these. The last time we put together a mix for an [nstbt_podcast] was way back in October 2020 for number 59 🤯

A lot has happened since then, and a lot has changed… 

We’ve been very fortunate to be able to share so much music over these last few years, and to connect with so many people.

What only feels like 6 months ago, has somehow turned into 3 years gone in a flash 😳

“No sleep till bedtime…” turned 15 years old last month. And we had our first party in a little while to celebrate. 

We’re in the process of organising some new releases, and organising some new events that will be happening before the years end.

I know this is the space where I’m supposed to be selling myself and writing about all the things I’ve done. 

But really, this is all about you…

I get to do all of this because of you. Even when I stop, you all still send me music. You all still want to be a part of this. 

And it’s because of all that, what once started as me trying to be the person that I needed for others. Turned into all of you, being the push that I needed to become the person that I am…

And for this I am very grateful 😢

This weeks guest mix comes from the "No Sleep Till Bed Time" label and event owner 6 Head Slug.

6head_slug is a Melbourne based hardtechno DJ/Producer/Promoter, who has been bringing his own unique blend of hard and funky beats to Melbourne's dance floors over the past 18 years.

The beat of the drum and his love for music has driven him from a young age, although It wasn't until 2004 when he brought a set of turntables and his first few records, did he realize that it was what he wanted to do with his life.

Since then he has been refining his sound, and pushing forward in the hope of inspiring others, preaching that 'you don't need to change who you are to fit in in this world...'

In June of 2008 he started "No sleep till bedtime..." A series of parties catering for the harder styles of dance music, which has since played host to some of of Melbourne's best local talent, and special guest interstate DJ's.

2023 sees 6head_slug more focused than ever, as he uses his [nstbt_podcast] series and digital labels to help push the harder sounds of techno in Melbourne, and to share the sounds of Melbourne with the rest of the world!

he.IV Came across our radar in early 2019 when a demo fell on our lap.

It was the dark black honest sounds of Techno as we hadn't heard it before. it was hel.IV. After his debut EP 'The Dagger & The Thought'. It took over the internet & blew up. It had immediate respect & has been getting hammered all around the globe. We finally have him back to some damage again. His new 'The Palm On The Altar' EP displays a more fine tuned hel.IV while still attacking the throats. It's dark. It's imposing, and it's serious business. We also have the talented Dahlia on board to remix the title track. An amazing eight minute journey to tell his version.

About Me:
6head_slug is a Melbourne based hardtechno DJ/Producer/Promoter, who has been bringing his own unique blend of hard and funky beats to Melbourne's dance floors over the past 19 years.

The beat of the drum and his love for music has driven him from a young age, although It wasn't until 2004 when he brought a set of turntables and his first few records, did he realize that it was what he wanted to do with his life.

Since then he has been refining his sound, and pushing forward in the hope of inspiring others, preaching that 'you don't need to change who you are to fit in in this world...'

In June of 2008 he started "No sleep till bedtime..." A series of parties catering for the harder styles of dance music, which has since played host to some of of Melbourne's best local talent, and special guest interstate DJ's.

2024 sees 6head_slug more focused than ever, as he uses his [nstbt_podcast] series and digital labels to help push the harder sounds of techno in Melbourne, and to share the sounds of Melbourne with the rest of the world!
