Amsterdam-based artist Keith Carnal is back on his Second Degree imprint this May with four original tracks. Growing up in the northern part of Holland, Keith Carnal has been carving out his very own corner of the techno scene for several years. Carnal has various releases on labels like Affin, ARTS, and, more recently, his Second Degree imprint, which he uses as an outlet for his material. Carnal has been busy in the studio in a year like no other, cooking up his signature atmospheric productions with sparkling tones and driving energy and is to be yet another productive year for the prolific Dutch producer. Tension-building cut 'Passed Out on the Sofa' kicks off the EP by layering entrancing arps, humming low frequencies, and icy hit hats keeping the energy flowing before 'Consumer Products' lays down resounding kicks, menacing synths which growl away above the rising pads. Next up on the flip, 'Charlie' is a fierce acid slammer featuring nasty 303s, compelling rhythms and emotive leads that brings harmony to all the elements. Rounding off this skilfully produced release in style, 'Commercial Zombies' unmasks a fizzing techno roller through dramatic atmospheres, hypnotic fx and raw percussion in yet another impressive EP from Carnal.

Hey guys! 

Well here it is, my submission for the Taxidermy remix competition.

This was a vocal sample that I had always wanted to use for a track of my own, but to have the opportunity to do a remix for Taxidermy and their track Never sleep, never rest is even better! ;)

Bring me the horizons 'diamonds aren't forever' was a track I used to open some of my sets with when we were throwing "No sleep till bedtime..." parties semi regularly back in the day. (I have been a huge metal head and fan of heavy music my whole life)

I tried to make this track my own whilst still retaining elements from the original. It is the first time I feel that I've actually managed to get close to something I heard in my head. 

I hope that people can connect with the track in some way. A lot of it was put together in moments of extreme sleep deprivation... lol (The melody part came to me one night as I was working away on it, both physically and mentally exhausted... I sat behind the keyboard and just started playing)

This music and this lifestyle can be so relentless. Driven to the extremes of passion, determination, disappointment and self loathing... This remix I hope translates those emotions, and that people who hear it can relate.

We will never sleep, we will never rest...

Following the huge rise in the techy sound infusing with German Trance, we thought it was about time we set up an imprint to release tracks that embrace this genre! Who better than Australia's legendary “Gatty“, whose unmistakable fusion of dark techno and hard trance have been rocking the world for quite some time.

Gatty's original is somewhat fierce and menacing and pounds away in true underground form. “Maximumraver” adds distorted acid to the proceedings with some fine thump. “Eyoung” from Theracords is next up and his mix really rocks the place while the techno fiends amongst you will be enjoying “6Head Slug's” wonderful reworking. Finally is “Sadisfiction” who adds some energetic hard trance riffs to the rather wicked original groove.

About Me:
6head_slug is a Melbourne based hardtechno DJ/Producer/Promoter, who has been bringing his own unique blend of hard and funky beats to Melbourne's dance floors over the past 19 years.

The beat of the drum and his love for music has driven him from a young age, although It wasn't until 2004 when he brought a set of turntables and his first few records, did he realize that it was what he wanted to do with his life.

Since then he has been refining his sound, and pushing forward in the hope of inspiring others, preaching that 'you don't need to change who you are to fit in in this world...'

In June of 2008 he started "No sleep till bedtime..." A series of parties catering for the harder styles of dance music, which has since played host to some of of Melbourne's best local talent, and special guest interstate DJ's.

2024 sees 6head_slug more focused than ever, as he uses his [nstbt_podcast] series and digital labels to help push the harder sounds of techno in Melbourne, and to share the sounds of Melbourne with the rest of the world!
