Vendredear ⏤ Has My IPhone Ever Been In Love ?

Tacto: The Departure is a sound work/music album by wellsgoodness (Inwoo Jung @azdner-wellsgoodness) corresponding to the Interactive LARP performance by Paula Pedraza which carries the same name and was originally drafted between 2021 and 2022. The project thematizes the situation of upcoming death and brings attention to the act of palliative care.
The album consists of 8 separate tracks which create a somewhat liminal almost ghostly atmosphere that manages to capture the temporal quality of end-of-life situatedness in sound. Inwoo Jung uses sampling, sound collaging and audio-fx processing techniques to achieve a clearly plunderphonic aesthetic which seems less concerned with recognizability than with treating audio as a material foundation in order to explore the vast ontological spectrum of human existence in between being, becoming, leaving and returning.

For a new episode of our regular ethereal mixes, we invited audiovisual artist Manuel Sékou, also operating under the moniker luxxuryproblems.

The artist’s mixes appear to a listener as diaries of subtle, seemingly tangible sensations and labyrinths of images. In the new material, he layers microtunes onto texture-rich fragments, as if breaking the recording into a series of successive frames.

Previously, luxxuryproblems was published on labels such as SPA, 76666 and Gem Tones, and has also contributed tracks to compilations from Katharsis, Sirens, World Canvas, Comic Sans and Infinito Audio. Two years ago, his latest mini-album “Flexfit” was released on SPA.

Manuel Sékou is an audio/visual producer, assembler, viewer, collaborator and hoarder from Dresden, currently based in Cologne. He’s been attracting attention since 2016 with numerous audio works, live-sets and online radio-shows under the moniker @luxxuryproblems. Yet he’s complementing his musical output in the field of visual arts through several self-published books and exhibitions. His Sound has been published via @spa_recordings, @katharsislabel, @comicsansrec, @infinitoaudiolabel and @76666, to name a few. For the current LAFmusik show he squeezed some breaks and classics as kick off for the season. Enjoy listening.
