Presenting our tenth official add-on for the Sequential Prophet X and XL analog hardware synthesizer, we welcome you to the world of the 1969 Piano.

The 1969 Piano (Model D) Concert Grand Piano marks one of the most exquisite piano lines in existence. The tone is rich and full, yet bright and airy. Its character—sublime. This piano creates an unabashedly timeless sound that will transform and adapt to any type of music.

We decided to sample a model specifically from 1969 since that era lent itself to some of the most iconic creations in piano engineering. Over time, the soundboard of our piano settled and opened up, creating resonations so soulful that we no choice but to capture them.

To ensure that we recorded it faithfully, we used six different microphone perspectives (Overhead, Keyboard/Player, Dampers, Spot, Ambient, and Room). This will allow you to dial in the sound and perspective you need—whether it's the full range of overheads,  the slightly softened mics on the dampers, or the room perspective with the keyboard/player mixed in for a wide and open sound.

It's a powerful add-on for the Sequential Prophet X and XL, through and through.

In our twelfth official add-on for the Sequential Prophet X and XL analog hardware synthesizers, we’d like to introduce the 1985 Passionate Piano.

It’s a piano with the beautiful, warm, and wide sound of a mature grand. It contains deep-sampled Sustains, Una Corda (felt piano), Staccatissimo, and Staccato. We recorded its short note staccatos with deep round-robin velocity layers, offering you the ability to play incredibly fast licks with clear definition on the attack of the sound.

Note that the 1985 Passionate Piano was recorded through analog equipment and 6 independent microphone positions. The process allowed us to encapsulate the deeper spirit of the instrument, creating something that plays ultra-realistically. It’s a beautiful add-on for the Prophet X and XL expansions, designed for the compositional mind and happy fingers.

This is a piece I've been working on for songwriter/composer Hal Dickens. Hal wrote this as a fantasy love song from Esmeralda to Quasimodo, the Hunchback of Notre Dame. He will be recording this as a song later this year but in the meantime, here is my orchestral arrangement of Hal's original piano composition.
