Marcin Kuhn aka The Beat Disciples is at the forefront of bringing listeners an experience that goes beyond musical genres. But before we go into all that, let’s start at the beginning. After escaping the tyranny of a communist regime in Poland, Marcin came to America when he was 4. Quickly assimilating into American society, Marcin fell in love with American music. While most boys his age were playing with action figures, Marcin was collecting jazz, blues, and rock records. When he was 12, Marcin taught himself how to play the guitar. Now a veteran guitar player and producer, he’s worked with some of the top acts on the local New York music scene (Bryk, Kilgore Smudge, Dry Kill Logic, Anthrax to name a few). With the increase in available technology, the internet, and the awesome pool of talent that can now be found online, the world of music is fast becoming the ultimate “melting pot” of musical ideas and styles. Cultural and language barriers are disappearing, bringing people together, and the emerging music is not only reflecting that but helping the process as well. Electronic rock, electro-punk, metalstep, are just some of the countless subgenres that have sprung up over the past decade or so. In the midst of all this chaos and creativity is The Beat Disciples project. The Beat Disciples are taking all these musical ideas, playing with them, sculpting them, fusing them like alchemists of sound. It is the sound of the new millennium, the sound of a new generation. The Beat Disciples project is global music for a global culture. A culture that goes beyond borders, genres, labels. They know who they are, what they like, and appreciate the freedom to do so.
