Globetrotters, time travelers, fun seekers, vinyl diggers, dance lovers… Many are the types of beings that thrive in this sonic culture of ours, finding shelter and happiness in this sensorial and emotional universe fostered by musical communion. And the creatures therein are more than just characters, they comprise the fauna and flora of these aural environments in which we dwell and revel, sustaining it with both their projects and their passion. Take the magnificent French trio known as Bayetë for example, an autonomous ecosystem of discovery and debauchery that strives to create the perfect conditions for our enjoyment of the treasures they find in their excursions across the world. A noble purpose that is so powerful that it does not solely rely on the collective's togetherness to exist, each of its members carry that same seminal drive in everything they do individually. Something we can perfectly perceive in this episode of Gop Cast where Simon, one of its members who recently relocated to São Paulo, manages to encapsulate the eclectic excellence of their musical abundance in a stellar mix of moods, grooves and everything in between.

Bside Incoming: Discothèque Tropicale

The next instalment (#167) of the B-side podcast invites an event series, record label and DJ collective who go by the name of Discothèque Tropicale.

A project created in the celebration of borderless music and diverse creative cultures from across the world. Their global musical voyage has taken them to every corner of all things soulful and funky; with lots of Brazilian influence, Zouk, Soukous, Funaná and Reggae. Their record label has had a heavy focus on Afro-Carribean reissues (especially Zouk), and their upcoming release has already been played by heavyweight DJs such as Antal, Hunee and Palms Trax! 

Keep an eye out for their future reissues, and their sets Ion and Westival in the UK this summer! Until then, enjoy some sunny tropical sounds from the Bside of Discothèque Tropicale’s impressively global collection.

Crack Mix 208 – Begin

2 1/2 hours with the Bali sunset at hands-down the most breath-taking venue I've set foot in. 

Potato Head has such amazing musical curation for a beach bar and 5* resort. If something like this was opened in Europe it would soon be ruined by money and snobbery but they've managed to build something that's both classy and welcoming. Big love to Dan, Pete, Dea and everyone else who looked after me on the trip.
