Jan Schonander invited me to participate in his Four Seasons for Piano project with "summer" as my assigned season.  Since I am no Vivaldi I reached back to the Tin-Pan Alley "Good Old-Summertime" (1902) for inspiration.  Not really an arrangement per se, but rather a quote.

Summer Interrupted

A quiet work that is essentially a reflection on being present. It is when I am composing or practicing that I tend to be most present — being still, listening, focused on what is there, hearing where it wants to go. In many spiritual traditions the word also refers to the state of becoming attentive and aware of the presence of the Divine (however named) — a mutual presence. Of course, the state of presence often comes and goes; and with luck, comes again. Ah, the unruly mind.

Sunday flow. Improvising without any direction. Catching something and playing with it. This one is quite intense but not too comfortable. Pure music. Please enjoy. By the way: The piano is tuned in my favorite pitch. 444hz is slightly higher and the instrument feels more open. The piano tuner might hate me :)

It’s hard to believe that this song written by Paul Simon in 1964 is over half a century old. Like a true work of art, it has withstood the test of time. An interesting anecdote Simon wrote this song in his bathroom where his guitar would have an “echo” effect.

My music has cinematic angles, classical influences, often strong melodies and ambient soundscapes. Piano is my main instrument, which I've been playing for decades now.
