As you say in the presentation brief, it is an eclectic work, but also very interesting.

Age and experience come through your music. No one young could make music with this depth. it takes a lifetime to put one's life into their music so perfectly. At this stage of my life it is the legacy I leave to those who care. I'd love to watch you

Impromptu 2

Ancient Egypt, land of great mystery, culture and achievements..
Land of Ra...
Ra is the Egyptian word for 'sun'. As a solar deity, Ra embodied the power of the sun but was also thought to be the sun itself, envisioned as the great god riding in his barge across the heavens throughout the day and descending into the underworld at sunset.
My ode to that great civilization and the Sun  responsible for all life on this planet..

A special thank you to Pamela Illanes, (https://soundcloud.com/user-315009621), a wonderful composer that even had her own work played by a real orchestra, early on during my writing I struggled with writers block for almost 2 weeks, one night we engaged in a conversation and Pam was very helpful, she gave me the patience and strength I needed at the time, writers block really gets to me. Its wonderful when artists help each other and I am very lucky to have her as a friend.

I haven't really written anything for a long time. I have struggled a little with inspiration and motivation for music. This song was made because I was playing with different organ sounds. Suddenly it slowly became a song. It has a similar build up as some of my older songs, but it was good to feel a little joy of musikmaking again.

When I first sit at the piano each day, it's important to warm up my fingers. Anyone who uses their muscles to run, dance or play any sport has to warm up their muscles. stretch them and orient them to what they are doing. Piano is no different. I have strong hands without a hint of arthritis. When I was still gigging, playing harder R&R, I had callouses on my fingers which often split and bled by the end of the night. My music style has changed over the years. But serious playing without warming up means the hands won't be coordinated and will be harder to control. The fingers need to know where to go whether I am looking at them or not. They need to be able to judge the distances between the keys and they need to be limbered up. So I do a variety of exercises playing up and down the keys in a variety of different key signatures. I unusually to play 3-5 hours at a stretch - because I love it that much. There is so much more music to play. If a warm up sounds decent I post it. All of my music are improvs but most of them have an intent, a story to tell. This one doesn't. I'm just having fun.

THE FLOW is a guitar piece where the music goes through gentle modulations in a continuous stream of moods. It flows along different sections, some soft, some strong. It’s like the river I live next to, that has passed three different countries and many different places, it’s like my life’s experiences, the styles of music I came across, the feelings it tapped into…

Most small towns have something they're known for;  it might be a building or a statue, or some famous person who lived there.  When I was a Baptist pastor forty years ago in the little town of St Francis, Kansas, it was the "Walkin' Boys.  Not exactly "boys", they were three middle-aged brothers who were probably autistic and lived at the local nursing home called "The Village".  Their parents made provision for them to live there after they passed away so they would be well taken care of.  What made them so memorable was they would venture out every day from the Village regardless of the weather and walk the length of the town, checking their post office box, stopping in at the jewelry store to have their watches set, then proceed out to the cemetery to pay their respects to their parents, then return to the Village.  They would make this three mile trip three times a day if the weather wasn't too extreme, and you could almost set your watch by when they would pass by.  I felt they needed a song, and it is one that's still remembered by those who knew them. I understand the last of the Walkin' Boys passed away just a few years ago having lived to a ripe old age of course--they walked every day:)  The song also features my singing; something that got lost along the way some years ago. You'll also hear a little tape hiss; it was mastered from a forty-year-old cassette:)

Folk number from way back merging a few concepts... Lammas is an August harvest festival and Martinmas a November cattle-slaughtering and salting-down for winter one. Plough Monday celebrates the burying of a corn 'dolly' made from the last harvest sheaf to 'embody' the corn spirit and provide a winter refuge prior to its summer rebirth. Kine is an old word for cattle. How in touch with the land were rural folk from centuries past, and how disconnected we seem today in our little plastic techno-bubbles.🙄My lyrics, Mr. L's music/vocals. It has been some time... I have had a jaw procedure and if I do not exercise it, the surgery is in vain. This creates more pain in the jaw and neck and I did not practice my violin for months.

What Was I Made For? was done some time ago. However, events recently changed my ideas on the movie Barbie. While I never considered myself a feminist per se, I encountered recently the difficulty women, especially minority women, face in many fields.. Though I do not consider myself very high, a few men began to abuse, bully, sabotage me in Spotify. This will happen in all fields, but I feel especially vulnerable because it is an art form. Bullying stifles creativity..The point is we should not be treated as property. Double standards because if we stand up for ourselves, we are deemed 'aggressive'. What Was I Made For?

Hi, I'm Serge Smulders from the Netherlands. 
My music has cinematic angles, classical influences, often strong melodies and ambient soundscapes. Piano is my main instrument, which I've been playing for decades now. Lately I'm more into composing music for listening and experimenting with sound, harmonies, rhythm, emotion and space. Follow me on spotify for that.
