Abowji Quintet is a virtual jazz ensemble created and performed by a single composer and sound-fiction artist. Though presented as a group, each piece is written, recorded, and arranged by Abowji, working through multiple imagined voices and shifting identities.

The project operates within the Phantom Pleasure archive – a fictional collection of dream-broadcasts, psychic recordings, and forgotten melodies. The stories surrounding the Quintet, from Electric Bhikku to the gray-bearded traveler of 1973, are invented narratives that shape the sonic world they inhabit.

All recordings are crafted from layered instruments, tape fragments, and compositional collage – a personal and speculative archive assembled by hand.
