We continue our journey into sound with the Wandering II Compilation. This compilation celebrates the 20th release in the original SS series. A journey that took close to a year to compile and prepare. The tracklist is comprised of friends and artists who share in a connection with Silent Season through their music.

The Wandering Compilation is named after the Wandering tree, a Big Leaf Maple that grows very slowly near the beach by my house. I sit under this tree to ponder and watch the ocean. It’s a favourite place to chill with music and contemplate life. It’s under this tree that the idea of compiling a series of music that embodies the Silent Season vision and sound was born. We welcome you to sit back, close you’re eyes and listen to the sounds of the Wandering II compilation.

In a world rife with chaos there is so much beauty that can be found by being in nature. The aim of the Wandering compilation is to share music that encourages people to take notice of their natural surroundings and find peace within Mother Nature. The love of nature is a common language that transcends political and social boundaries. Through music, nature gives us universal purpose.

Chris Madak (aka Bee Mask) epitomizes the dissolution of distinctions between music for the mind and the body. His stunning live performance of ‘Headband’ at the 2014 Labyrinth festival left Van Hoesen dazed and enthralled. This was the origin of the remix found here, which perfectly conveys the themes of ‘Stealth’. The remix is complemented by one of Van Hoesen’s own productions, the epic ‘Breach’.

Acid Camp Records is rolling through again, this time with an artist known for his atmospheric and cosmic-oriented tracks, Natan H. Conveying inspiration for this record — “Just a little nod to extrasensory experiences and perception” — is undoubtedly fitting for ACR’s second release. 

The opening track “Atmosphere” begins with layers of time signatures working in tandem. As the track pushes forward, the off-kilter drums grow towards a heavier climax. Followed up with a remix from techno serialist, Conforce. Through the use of filters, polyrhythms, and kinetic programming, Conforce lays a blueprint for driving techno. “Remote View Pt. I” is an ambient break, shifting gears to take listeners to a place both ethereal and planetary. The final track, “Remote View Pt. II”, again breaks away from traditional timing by tracing layers of hi-hats, delayed strings and synths that alternate throughout the arrangement in syncopation.

“This record definitely takes a bit more of a layered approach," — Natan H offers us yet another unique, immersive, and charismatic release for Acid Camp Records.
