Rebecca Tolhurst is a mezzo alto vocalist and songwriter based in Victoria.  She began singing lessons with Susie Ahern and later Christine Sullivan in the early 90's and attended Latrobe Uni's now defunct music department where her mind boggled at Bartok and Stravinsky, and she began to perform in public. 

She has worked with several choirs including the enormous 1998 production of the Carmina Burana by the Monash Uni Choral Society.

With both live & recorded lead & backing vocals experience, Rebecca has worked alongside some amazing musicians including Cyndi Boste, Colin Badger,  Paulie Stewart and the Dili Allstars, Michael Badger-Taweel, Pete Fidler, Paul Hester, Chris Jones, and her father, Kerryn. 

Much of her songwriting experience comes from working in a duo named Pope Joan in the late 90's and early 2000's around Melbourne folk gigs including the Dan O'Connell, Clifton Hill Hotel and Rucker's Bar in Northcote. 

Rebecca is currently playing some shows around Melbourne and Central Victoria with a trio including various instruments such as guitar, violin/fiddle, bass and backing vocals. 

Rebecca has the soul of a punk and the voice of a folkie with gospel leanings. Her lyric writing style is honest and witty verging on vitriolic, and her vocal arrangements are multidimensional.
