As time passes, my memory fades. And I'm only 26 years old. Much of my story would already be lost if I hadn't written it down. For the past 8 years, I've written in a journal almost every night - my thoughts, struggles, and triumphs. Day-to-day life changes are small. My journals tell me how I've grown over the years.

These 11 songs are inspired by my writings. It's important to step back once in a while and look at where I've come from. May you realize the importance of your story and write it down. May you reflect on it someday, and celebrate how you've changed over the years.

Grateful People Are Happy People

Thank you to my amazing brother Eric, who made this CD a reality. From developing songs, to the studio, to mixing and mastering, he did it all. I am forever grateful and so happy that we could do this project together. Love you bro.

Singer, songwriter, I write songs
Pour out my heart and soul, and now my heart longs
For someone to receive them
Someone to believe the things I say

Singer, songwriter, you write songs?
Pour out my heart and soul, but I know something’s wrong
You’re not with me anymore
Your mind walked out the door at my first word

And do I have to die before you’ll listen to my song?
You’d hang on to my every word once you’d realized I’m gone
So why not listen now, my friend, cause I could die today
Sound like a good way to learn a little more each day

Writer, poet, I write books
Pole my imagination, it’s harder than it looks
Want someone just to read it
Someone just to see the things I meant

Writer, poet, you wrote a book?
I’d love to read it, I can see how long this must have took
But you never read it through
Yeah, I guess I should have knew, you’re a busy man

And do I have to die before you’ll read the things I write?
Read my words with higher intent than just being polite
So why not read it now, my friend, cause I could die today
Sounds like a good way to learn a little more each day

Teacher, healer, I restore
Spend all my time with people of every shore
Want people just to follow
Fill the spots that I find hollow deep inside

Teacher, healer, you restore?
What must I do to inherit something more?
But they couldn't let go
It wasn't long before they’d know why he was here

Did he have to die before we’d see the way he loved
While he walked we’d guaranteed, he’s not from up above
But live you life in love, my friend because he died that day 
Sounds like a good way to love a little more each day

And when people die, they’ll be lifted high
Learn what you can before you close the door
But when they speak your name, I think what’s really changed? Are you wiser now than you were before?

So don't wait till I die before you jump up on the ball
We'll check our egos at the door cause no one knows it all
I'll sit on down and take a listen, see the things that I've been missing
Sounds like a good way to learn a little, love a little more each day

Trying to figure out if I’m better off without you

But you've made your choice, you’re without me, so I’ll be without you

It seems you couldn’t decide how to handle what’s at hand
So you pushed it all aside, tasted freedom as away you ran
But now I’m sitting here before you, you’re telling me just how you fought
So if you’re with him you can’t speak to me, go give that a thought

I know you’re trying to do what’s right
You know my feelings and I hope that you see the light

You tell me we need to talk, and you pull me aside
The bottom like is we can’t speak and you’re sorry, you say with a sigh
To ease the pain you say the wall you've built is kind of more like a gate
I just say nothing because with her I’ll always have something more to say

I know you felt it, feel it when you pray
Got my respect but is this really the only way?

But ask yourself, do the means justify the end?

Walk down the street, can’t believe what we see
And I ask you, “Are we in Munich, Germany?”  
Showed up at school, found nothing to do
Hard to find your way, but you make it through

We feel the ebb and flow, at least now we know

Far away from home, everything gone wrong, life just ain’t right
Girls are problems still, we wonder, “What’s the deal?”
How can we stop this fight?
I couldn’t see it then, but I see it now that I’m looking back:
I was happy being unhappy there with you

Now we’re on a train, you’re lying on the floor
We’re all trying to get some sleep, who could ask for more?
Got off that train, things are looking strange
Is this place right?  Wish we took a plane

Emotionally spent, unsure of my intent
And I spread myself still thinner then
‘Till I win I won’t relent, close my eyes as I decent

But the fire burns out as far as I can see
And I suffocate when I try to break free
So I take this life, forget the man I’ll never be
And I stretch myself to eternity

I do my best to give to you my time
I seek to love you well, watch me as climb
And it’s you, new friend I met today
Too much to do, no I can’t come out and play

Because I’ve spread myself too thin again
Emotionally spent, unsure of my intent

But the fire burns out as far as I can see
