I think you did a great job of singing this - I'd much rather hear a song sung by the author than by Harry Nilsson! Sorry to hear that life hasn't always been easy. I hope things are better now.

About a decade ago two things happened: I came really close to losing a family member to a sudden brain infection and my then-wife asked for a divorce. In both cases I didn't have an opportunity to tidy things up before the door suddenly shut. I wrote this song at the time but it took awhile to unpack the suitcase. As usual, I would much rather someone else sing this than me, preferably Harry Nilsson.

I wanted to give you something tangible, solid poetry to hold.  Not to make it right, only to let you know.  You left me to tend to my heart, now it’s broken, I’ve fallen apart.  Missing you, kissing you, in my mind.  Dreaming of a love that died as I reach for the paper to dry my eyes.  I don’t remember the last time I felt this worthless.  It’s alright to be alone.  I can make it on my own.  Critical of this secret mess, can’t escape it nonetheless.  It stays with me like an ailment, clouding the visions in my head.  You waltzed in and out of my life, carving the pain in my heart with your knife.  Cutting me down to size and I’m bleeding out replies.  It’s alright to be alone.  I can make it on my own.

Hi guys, really proud today introducing a very fruitful collab with my friend Dirk Taubenheim from The Gatsbys. This song means a lot to me, as this is my very first song I partly wrote almost 15 years ago. I only finished music and arrangement last year, and considering the great welcome this song had from you all, I decided to carry on the work and write lyrics. 
Once it was finished, I offered Dirk to sing it, as I always thought he had the admirable rocky voice this song deserved. He accepted straight away to sing it, which was an honor for me considering his prolific songwriting career. START UP AGAIN  Vocals for Collabs

Baby of the 80s, teen of the 90s, obsessed with the 60s and 70s; an FM wannabe in a Youtube world. I guess I just wasn't made for these times. I like songwriting in the Gershwin, Tin Pan Alley, Lennon/McCartney tradition. I prefer records to singles. I prefer three minutes to ten.

According to my mama, I was whistling before I learned to talk. I played organ in the Memphis garage rock scene between 2000 and 2016. I've done a lot of studio work, adding keys to records by songwriters that I really admire.

I'm now focused on recording my own songs. I have a minimal home recording set up with a laptop, microphones, cheap guitars, drums, piano, and a grab bag of other toys. All my lyrics rhyme with the truth, or at least I think they do. 

Life is short and there are more good songs then there are raindrops. Which is to say: thank you very much for lending me your ears.
