Important Announcement. No, really.

Here's a piece I wrote for my BA course, for the avant-garde module. It was a simple idea but I don't think I pulled it off too well -  it would have sounded so much better with a live choir but I only had time to use samples. I don't like the finished result but I thought I'd upload it anyway :)

It's a bit long and tedious so thank you if you decide to listen to it all ;) The idea is that one of the voices descends by a semi-tone on each cycle, but also start at different times as the piece progresses. This creates an uncomfortable dis-harmony, which occasionally finds a perfect harmony within the dissonance. It resolves comfortably despite the entire piece sounding uncomfortable. 

It's somewhat inspired by John Tavener's 'The Lamb', which I was completely in love with at the time.

Hello! My name is Adam Haynes. I am a music composer, arranger, and orchestrator, with a First Class BA Honours in Music Composition for Professional Media.

My music is mainly inspired by video game music, and the western classical music periods. My biggest inspiration is Nobuo Uematsu, and his influences are apparent throughout my compositions. I enjoy the use of strong and memorable leitmotifs and passages, and I hope that the listener will be whistling or humming my tunes subconsciously at the end of the day :)

Most importantly for me is to make the listener feel something when listening to my music - happiness, sorrow, excitement, nostalgia, if I can provoke something from just one listener then I feel satisfied with what I've created.
