Jason Nesmith and Steven McNeil formed the Beauties in Los Angeles in 1989. After writing and performing acoustic songs together, the two found drummer Matthew Steer and developed their unique, psychedelic-blues sound. Last to join the band was Ralf Jacob on bass. The Beauties recorded a demo and played several live shows at legendary LA venues before finally landing a management deal with Steifel-Phillips Entertainment, and a major record deal with Gasoline Alley Records. They recorded their debut, self-titled album in 1992 and toured the US that fall. The Beauties live on through their charged lyrics and passionate sound.
