i am a long time a darker wave listener. the announcement that the darker wave series is going to be completed made me rethink my life, its was the only constant that left for me. Elena Pavla started her DJ career in 2016, announcing herself as one of the most talented upcoming artists. Now she is one of the most exciting musical artists in Moscow. Passion and desire to improve and a good taste for music led her to constant foreign tours. She traveled around almost all of Europe: Italy, Germany, Norway, England, Spain, Malta, Serbia, performed in Asia and Latin America with major tours. Since then, she has carved out her space as a first-class DJ in the electronic industry.

### **In Face of the Dark <3**

It started with a crack in reality - **Umbral**, like a distorted shadow between two worlds. Mira had only been trying to order a pizza when the basement door of her house suddenly started glowing. She opened it, curious as ever, and was hit by a rush of pure **Magic**. When she blinked again, she was in the middle of a time warp, standing in front of a glowing display: **Timecode** - 00:00.

A holographic turtle, who introduced himself as the leader of the **50 Foolz**, explained to her that she was the chosen one to save the universe. "Of course I am," Mira muttered sarcastically before being swallowed by a gigantic rocket called "**Down to Mars**" piloted by a group of dancing mushroom creatures.

The flight was a chaotic mix of screaming and laughter, accompanied by a strange mantra: "**Change Running Systems**" - a note that echoed in her head. Mira tried to adjust to it, but then a thick fog appeared, called **Purple Haze**. The air was heavy and seemed like a living thing.

Arriving on Mars, Mira encountered the Guardians of Galactic Order, giant robots with glowing faces who danced like there was no tomorrow. "Only through rhythm can you grease the cosmic gears!" they shouted. Mira decided to just go along with it. Why not?

When she was finally led into the Temple of **Technolitixx**, she realized that reality was a hoax, orchestrated by a god-like DJ in a cross-dimensional festival. She was given a VIP pass and lost herself in an endless trance set she called "**Goa Dreams**".

But then the number **333** appeared everywhere, projected onto planets, stars and even Mira's skin. "That's the exit code," the turtle explained before turning into a teddy bear. Mira knew she had to go to the **Symphonic Space**~** Otherside**, where she would face the ultimate question: pizza with pineapple or without?

After passing through the gates, the universe suddenly screamed "**Let Me Go**!" and imploded in an explosion of color. Mira found herself in her living room, with a cold pizza in her hand. She laughed, cried and slowly got up.

Outside, the night was silent. She went out and started dancing alone, for no reason - **Slow Dancing**, knowing that she had just survived the most absurd night of her life.

On 25th December, I had the incredible honour of opening the main floor at Club Graf Karl in Kassel, right before the amazing Anna Rausch took over🌟

For three hours, I crafted a journey through the hypnotic realms of Melodic, Peak Time and Driving Techno. Playing this set was a truly special experience for me, and I poured my heart and soul into every beat. 

Now, it’s your turn to dive into that night’s energy. I hope you’ll feel the same joy and connection I did when you listen to it. Let the music take you on a ride, and most importantly - enjoy the journey!

What and who is A Darker Wave?
We are a duo (jacki-e & p-mac) who present A Darker Wave every week only on NLive Radio, Circl8 Radio, Echo Radio & Chill Lover Radio. We put the show together in our home studio. The show is streamed worldwide on the internet. Each show is posted on our Soundcloud, Mixcloud, Hearthis.at, Podbean and You Tube pages once it has been streamed and presents the best in new techno releases.
We also play gigs as A Darker Wave and we have played at events in Germany and all over the UK.
The music we play is techno, tech house, deep house and anything else we like enough to include in the show.
Each show is 2 hours long. In the first hour we go into the mix with our featured EP of the week and the best of the new releases.
In the second hour we invite new and upcoming DJs to come onto the show and do a guest mix.

Why are you called A Darker Wave?
Dark Wave was first used in the 1980s to describe a dark and melancholy variant of new wave and post-punk music and was first applied to UK musicians such as Bauhaus, Joy Division, Sisters of Mercy, Cocteau Twins, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Depeche Mode and Anne Clark. It was also used to describe artists who combined music with performance art, such as Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire, who challenged and explored the darker and obsessive sides of the human condition.

A lot of techno takes its spirit and ethos from this music, Listen to Throbbing Gristle or Cabaret Voltaire and you can hear the industrial sounds which are a staple of techno music today.

Techno is the outsider of electronic dance music, the punk of today's modern music scene. As Dave Clarke said in an interview with Mixmag, " Techno is edgy. Techno will challenge you......it's the real dark art."

Our radio show, in presenting the best in underground techno and deep house music, and in giving an opportunity for new, up and coming DJ's and producers, is providing an outlet for new techno, which is best described as being the new wave of modern dance music.

Not just a new wave, but with it's incessant bass rumblings, synthesiser drones, pounding drums, melodic top notes and eerie, distorted vocal samples, techno, in all its forms, is a backdrop to and a critique of our post-industrial, consumerist society, one in which our actions are observed 24/7, our democratic freedoms are threatened by our very own governments and our rights to do, think and act as we please are under ever increasing scrutiny. Techno really is A Darker Wave.

When we were listening to music in the 60’s and 70’s, before the electronic tentacles of technology infiltrated the world, we often thought, whilst listening to the likes of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Hawkwind, Captain Beefhart, New York Dolls and Roxy Music, where would music go to in the future? It could never be what was being portrayed in the science fiction movies of the time. Now we know. It can be anything. When we have a recording studio in our own home which is more powerful and versatile than anything available back then, we now know music can be anything and go anywhere. It is only the spark of our imaginations, or lack of it, that holds us back. On our laptop computers we have the capabilities that many artists back then would have given their right arms for. It’s for the uniqueness of the artist to express themselves to be able to stand out from the deluge of music available. Finding those gems is the modern day equivalent of crate digging and when you do, it makes it all worthwhile. Long live music!!!!
