Bristolian Stephen Redmore, known through his drum & bass alias Mako, is finally set to unleash his forthcoming LP on Metalheadz, something which he’s been working on behind the scenes for some time. The label head of Utopia is well known for his slick production and penchant for underground anthems, something which has been seen again and again on his own imprint, as well as across a plethora of labels which have acted as pillars for the drum & bass world. Having already made his presence felt before within the catalogue of Metalheadz, as well as Break’s Symmetry Recordings, Dispatch, Soul:R and Samurai Music, he’s a valuable part of the genre’s make up, which is why the announcement of his forthcoming LP ignited widespread anticipation.

Directly translated to ‘a body of art’, Mako’s LP ‘Oeuvre’ is representative of his life’s work in music production. The switching breaks of ‘Heartstone’, slamming, yet eerily hollowed snares of ‘Offline’ and grinding bassline of ‘Life Cycle’ alongside the late Andy Skopes, a testament to the legacy he left behind, set the tone. Meanwhile, Villem and Fields join Mako for the LP’s next collaboration ‘Liquid Groover’ before the emotive swelling build of ‘The Window’ gives way to a second drop beat switch up, continuing the journey. ‘Flip it’ has already been doing the club rounds, as the moody Photek atmospherics of ‘One Reality’ and more affectional twists of ‘Holding You’ adds to the tracklist’s versatility.

‘The Scenic Values’ underscores Mako’s love of Krust and Doc Scott production grooves, whilst the experimental soundscape of ‘Hoxton Home’ heralds back to old Lemon D. ‘Oh Really’ finishes the album’s more club-orientated offerings, which follows with a 170bpm techno style track via ‘Passive Aggressor’. ‘Oeuvre’ is a walkthrough of Mako’s many personalities as a musician and it finds a welcome home within Metalheadz’s historic discography.

RENEGADE RIDDIMS: Just Bee

Written around the same time as his classic broken beat anthem "Belong", "Stars Up Above" comes from the era of original liquid funk. As 1/3 of Breakwater Crew (a live / production team set up with Dice & Bluez) he produced tracks & remixes for Formation, Hospital, Compost and many other top labels at the time, later also working with Zed Bias among others.

Shadow Boxers #009 is delivered by by https://soundcloud.com/omnimusicuk label boss, Eschaton. Journeying through the atmospheric side of the label, littered with breakbeats and jungle sounds, this 45 minute mix gives a real insight to the ethos of the Omni Music outlet. 

Omni Music was initially set up in early 2011 to showcase Eschaton's own productions, as some tracks had no natural home on other labels and he felt that there needed to be an avenue for his creations. He had released on net labels prior to this (Digibeat, SC:Digital and Materializm) but felt restricted.

During the label's conception he began to hear a host of other demos by like minded artists, which he felt deserved to be heard by the public and so took the decision to release other artists' music too. The styles on the label vary from jungle to glitchy dnb to chilled out downtempo tracks; the common denominator is always deep thoughtful music spanning both the dark and the light, the ying and the yang. 

Omni has been proud to feature a host of artists throughout the years giving a showcase to new artists, as well as veterans of the scene that inspired Eschaton as he was growing up in the early 90's, as jungle and drum and bass evolved from rave, techno and hardcore.

Notable artists on the label include Pariah, Aural Imbalance, Stunna, Pete Rann, Gremlinz, Voyager, Rob Haigh (Omni Trio), Madcap, DJ Trax, Infest, Future Engineers, Justice, Greenleaf, Fushara, Parhelia, Enjoy, Dissident, Okee, Parallel, Indidjinous, Macc, DgoHn, Acid Lab, and Rainforest, as well as brand new talent such as Wetman, Pageant, I Wannabe, Farquaad, and many many more. Omni has featured over 100 artists during its 200+ EP's, 70+ LP's and its other compilations and downtempo offshoots.
