If you’re familiar with the EKOU sonics we push, then you’ll know how much we love getting
behind a beautiful, dark, rolling beat. Our latest release is testament to this, and it comes
courtesy of Manikin, who is debuting on the label with his Iron Mind / Lost In Hiatus single.
Manikin is a name you might have some recollection of after he laid down some very promising
foundations in the scene between 2020 to 2021, releasing on imprints including
SkankandBass, Terra Firma Records and Soullab. But we haven’t heard so much from the
Australia-born artist since. With a string of singles lined up for 2023, Manikin is refreshed and
ready to stamp his name across the drum and bass scene, starting with this single. Packing
high energy rhythms and atmospheric soundscapes, it’s just a taste of what’s to come from a
promising talent with an ear for meticulously crafted deep beats.

The four tracks on offer here are a solid showcase of unique soundscapes, expertly engineered and packed with moody atmospherics, crunching bass growls and attacking drums. Tephra & Arkoze and Invadhertz sounds blend together perfectly resulting in some top-notch dark & steppy rollers like you have never heard before.

To celebrate this inspiring collab project, the release will be getting a launch like no other. On 19th October Addictive Behaviour DJs will take over Room 3 at Fabric for the club’s 19th Birthday celebrations, while also launching the When in Rome EP. Tephra & Arkoze and Invadhertz will be joined by Script & Survival, Mystic State, Data 3, Sicknote, Sweetpea, Smuskind and Saunders with MC’s Gusto, J:S and Hainesy hosting.

After a few quiet months, we’re following our rebrand launch with a steady flow of quality music for the rest of the year. Starting off, we present a 2-track single from two of our outstanding inhouse talents.
Portuguese native Molecular has been on the spotlight with a steady flow of releases in labels like Delta9, Fokuz and Skankandbass. Working on his craft since a young child, he went from learning classic piano to creating enormous dirty basslines. 

For the title track he invites Belgium’s Lavance who is no stranger to our catalogue, and who also has been enjoying a highly creative streak, with music featuring on 1985 Music, Overview and his own self-released music. 

Marking the beginning of a new era for Counterpoint Recordings, this single sets the benchmark for what is to come and shines a light on the creativity inside of our core artist roster.

Side B // Molecular – They Won't

"They Won't" sees Molecular go in for a solo track which showcases some of his best skills, by delivering a perfect sonic blend of relentless bassline groove and clinical rolling percussion work – all tied up with the perfect progression. 

Nothing gets old during the track, there is always something new happening, surprising you again and again, right from the start. New sounds, new Delays, new drums, you won’t get bored listening through the whole track, as it is dressed to progress.

The percussive dynamic low end sets the tone, whilst the drum work and midrange tie everything together into a tune which is directly aimed at dancefloors worldwide.
