On entend qui bruissent les fourrés : une créature approche, ses grosses mains jouent avec des bretelles. D’esprit ne le conçoit-elle peut-être pas comme tout entier le sien, mais le corps de cette créature déborde : des poches de graisse l’enflent, des poils font des lianes, des fourmis le picorent.

Encore une créature qui penche du tronc. Son second pas balance le premier pour qu’elle maintienne l’axe de sa marche.

Remember, however, how a haiku works - surprise overcomes you in the last line, not the one before that which still sets the natural and supernatural scene, no matter the momentum of tension it builds! - ... and, of course, a bow to a certain British poet's perspective on totemism might be in the cards as well ;-)

This was my contribution for Disquiet Junto Project 0682: Unring a Bell. The Assignment: What if you could?

My interpretation of un-ringing was based on bell tones morphing and unraveling into other sounds. Initially tried to create this soundscape in Ableton Live but nothing seemed to click. Finally settled on using a small modular system for production. 

Put together a Morphagene reel in Adobe Audition using bell samples as well as atmospheric sounds from freesound.org. The patch routing went from Make Noise Morphagene, Bastl Ikarie, Holocene NLMM, and finally a Make Noise XOH out to an audio interface to Ableton. Manually played Morphagene as the composition progressed. Recorded and deleted multiple versions, till I was finally satisfied with this one. fog dissolves to rain [naviarhaiku586]

I really had fun with the sound design on this one! Hopefully you will hear the fog dissolving into rain and the wind of the cool breeze clearing the vista so you can feel the sweeping bass/base of the cloud topped hills. :-)

I used the Dreadbox Erebus v3 for all the sounds and used its patchbay for every sound too. It was fun to explore. 

The wind was the easiest to make and I patched in the noise directly into the filter input where I did a manual filter sweep.

I am most proud of the rain sound. I took the noise out into the switch and then drove the switch with the clock and I adjusted the clock's rate and duty cycle to adjust the density of the rain. The output of the switch drove the gate and then I dialed in some filter resonance to give the raindrops some tonal information. 

The main musical notes took the output of the LFO into the VCA and I drove the VCA with the slow attack and slow decay of the filter's envelope. The output of the VCA went to the filter cutoff. This allows the LFO to gradually come in as the note sustains and adds some movement. I also used a lot of feedback on the delay to create extra resonance in the sound.
