Time Machine is a radio program on Refuge Worldwide, where myself and @geoffreylarue have one rule and one rule only: we can only play music from the same year. We also like to read facts on Wikipedia about said year, engage in playful banter, drink mezcal, and give away stupid prizes because we think we're a morning zoo show. You don't have to be caller number seven. You just have to be caller number one.

The Time Machine Episodes

Time Machine is a radio program hosted by @adytoledano and myself. Every month, we laser in on a specific year, and read factoids off of Wikipedia while listening to music from that year. In a nod to classic FM radio, we also have a trivia component where people can call in to win a prize. For our first show, we went back to 1979 and our prize was a Pine Knob Summer of '79 festival tee. 

We will be returning to the Refuge Worldwide airwaves on March 18, when our time machine will be taking us back to 1981.

This month on Time Machine, @adytoledano and I explore a year that I love and Ady was surprised to learn he loves as well! That's right, we're going all the way back to 1971, and even though I didn't get to play the Cass and Dave record, there's still a lot of good music in the year that changed everything... at least that's what they say in the movies. Shout out to the Refuge Worldwide team for solving the technical issues at the start of the program which were very much so my fault :)

1984 really was a year to remember, and our exploration of it even more so! As always, Time Machine is a very special collaboration between myself and @adytoledano, which is recorded live from Neukölln at the @refugeworldwide studios on Weserstraße 166. Congratulations to our contest winner for correctly answering that Andrew Ridgeley's father worked for Canon in spite of the fact that I deliberately (?) kept referring to the forgotten member of Wham! as Andrew Ridgefield! We hope you like your Last Christmas T-Shirt! We must of course offer special thanks to Dalida (RIP) for her INCREDIBLE French-language version of Last Christmas (Reviens-Moi), to the bar for all the mezcal, and to our producer George's cheese plant, for encouraging us to be as cheesily 1984 as possible.

On this month's episode of Time Machine, Ady and Geoff explored 1995, a year that was as exhilarating as it was confusing. DVDs were introduced, revolutionizing cinema and karaoke alike, Tom Hanks won a second consecutive Academy Award, the Spice Girls went into the recording studio, and a little program came out called, you guessed it: Windows 95. Also, I think that's the year my parent's got AOL but that could just as easily have been 1996 or 1997.

Time Machine - 1995 (w/ Ady Toledano)

After watching hours of YouTube videos from 1977, @adytoledano decided to be Iggy Pop this month, and we both think he did a terrific job of imitating that night-clubbing Muskegon twang. On this month's program, we learned about how English rock stars think light guys make great lovers, which planet's rings were discovered, and even made a few mistakes! The primary one being the ID of Rinder and Lewis' bathhouse jam Anger as their other bathhouse jam Lust. We'd regret the error if we had the time to care. 

As always, Time Machine is recorded live under the influence of mezcal at the @refugeworldwide studios on Weserstr. 168 in Berlin, Germany. Beginning next month, Time Machine will enter a fixed time slot, which is every second Wednesday from 3PM-5PM. We can't wait to lunch with you! See you in 1987 :)
