Erik Davis stands tall at the intersection between mysticism, technology, and counterculture. He's one of my favorite writers, the author of many stupendous books, among them "TechGnosis: Myth, Magic, and Mysticism in the Age of Information," "Nomad Codes," as well as "High Weirdness" a highly entertaining book that explores 1970s counterculture and its relationship with altered states of consciousness. Erik is also an Esalen faculty member, having recently taught a course on Embodied Writing and Spiritual Practice. In this conversation, we went into his new book, "Blotter," an extended meditation on LSD blotter art and the culture that surrounds it. We also found time to veer off into a host of topics, including Terence McKenna, John C. Lilly, Dick Price, madness, Stan Grof, the spiritual emergency network, prep-school deadheads, the Village Voice, the Internet and Erik's theory that it kills subcultures, the phenomenon of what Erik calls "cannabis thinking," how he was never much of a "cannabis writer," tape machines and their place in the counterculture, the Merry Pranksters, Phillip K. Dick, Bay Area Poster art, the DEA and its own little zine - and much more.

Resident DJ of the German music label Glitchy.Tonic.Records. During his time on the label he released three compilations: Hypno.Tembr and Fractal Tales (1,2), which includes tracks of the world-famous trance musicians.

His work on the label has not gone unnoticed and Dmitry is now also signed in English-Australian label Insonitus records.

Having a lot of fellow musicians/DJs around the world and supporting music labels ensures that Asygen always has unheard and unreleased tracks for his performances.

In addition to trance music he collects vinyl techno records of a deep and hypnotic sound. Organizer, DJ of Te4enie - techno parties in Moscow Region.

Co-Founder of Touched music - promo group who oriented on hypnotic techno parties with known artists from the labels: Semantica, PoleGroup, Midgar, The Gods Planet, Hypnus and etc.

As a DJ he played in the Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, India, regularly performs in Russia.

I miss the new me

Label co-owner Moakz returns to Codename: RCRDS with Lunatic Age EP, featuring a select of uniquely styled dancefloor bangers which have been featuring heavily in his sets over the past few months, complemented by three storming remixes from some of the most talented artists currently at work in the scene.

The EP opens with the prophetic title track ‘Lunatic Age’, a hybrid of atmospheric synths, electrostep and jungle with a warning message which feels unnervingly prescient in light of current world events. ‘A Dark Future’ flips 4x4 beats into a deep atmospheric direction as its vocals muse on the dystopian influences of the roots of jungle and techno, before Mineral contributes his stunningly brutal rework of the same track, flipping intelligently between introspective moments and tearout drops.

The 2nd half of the release brings the well titled ‘Calm Before The Storm’, with hypnotic synth lines and rolling drums building things towards a crescendo before the track locks firmly into the groove with a rumbling bass that continually pushes things forward. Code Of Silence provides his signature tearing amen drum work to his rework of ‘Lunatic Age’, bringing the hardcore elements to the fore and adding an extra vocal for good measure. Last up is man of the moment Neekeetone’s vibrant remix of ‘Back To The Earth’, where warped basses and trademark precision break choppage escalate the original to fresh new heights.
