Overview

This concerto, part of the famous collection L’Estro Armonico (published in 1711), is among Vivaldi’s most celebrated works.
It highlights the lively dialogue between two violins, supported by the cello, alternating brilliant virtuosity with lyrical passages.
Its innovative concertante style had a strong influence on J. S. Bach and other Baroque composers.

Structure

1. Allegro – Fugal entries, with tight interplay between the violins and the orchestra.


2. Largo e spiccato – A more contemplative atmosphere, marked by detached rhythmic writing.


3. Allegro – A vigorous and energetic finale, featuring intense dialogue among the soloists.

This is a preview of an older, rougher version of the title track — uneven, unfiltered, and closer to the earliest shape of the song.

I put this demo on its entirety, along with an also prior instrumental version, as exclusive bonuses on bandcamp.

The vocal melodies here sound both better and worse in different ways: clearer and fuller in the low end, but also a bit drowned and less striking in places. Some guitar parts sit more upfront — for example, the chorus melody is far more audible than in the final version. This demo also contains a pre-chorus riff that was ultimately removed.

It was never meant for an album, but it’s included here for anyone interested in hearing how the track sounded before it evolved into its final form.
