Dear friends and family - The crew at the house of KM Editions / Pleasure Wave are pleased to present to you, their brand new release, catalogue number PW04. Amsterdam based Chris Taylor, the mind behind Aan Zee may not be a familiar name to some, but his unique sound, we hope, will become something you will return to time and time again. 

Channelling the choicest ingredients from the galaxies of left-field Disco, library nuggets, lo-fi Afrobeat jams and beyond 'Persona / Funny berber' & 'Vacation' are strange beasts. Aimed squarely at the dance-floor but not obvious, blatant or cheap these deep sound excursions will tweak the more esoterically minded into action. The fact that Taylor is a multi-instrumentalist is evident, the sheer sonic tapestry that spreads across both cuts will engulf the ear-drums of the adventurous and stimulate the most intrepid of feet. These cuts are not easy to pin down or pigeon-hole, they are long-form exercises in interstellar dance music that is truly on the cosmic threshold. Following on from previous outings courtesy of Skatebård, Kito Jempere, Miskotom, Les Crocodiles & more, Pleasure Wave is the perfect home for the free-spirited and adventurous Aan Zee project, kindred spirits you might say. S&W have supplied a deliciously calming Rhodes driven track with a delicate & deep 80's vibe to it. The music is for a collaboration with visual artist Christian Nicolaus. Turnland and Christian have teamed to create an Audio/Visual installation merging graphics and sound. You can  also fold the record cover in 8 different ways to create your own favoured version. Pretty neat!

With the world in Covid-19 lockdown and the events industry stopped in its tracks, artists and online media like ourselves have been left financially vulnerable and, well...pretty bored. In an effort to alleviate both, Stamp The Wax launches Isolation Therapy, an emergency compilation built from scratch at lightning speed. 

We reached out to a bunch of friends who may need a hand, and gave them three days to make a track from scratch in isolation. 27 artists rose to the challenge and within a week from our first reach outs we were ready to go with masters (s/o Adam Scrimshire) and artwork (s/o Jess Ebsworth)⁣⁣. Final s/o to Aly Gilani for helping pull it all together. 

To provide artists with financial support as quickly as possible, royalty splits have been increased and accounting periods have been reduced to fortnightly during Coronavirus restrictions. Isolation Therapy will also provides much-needed funds for STW, having been hit heavily by the collapse of the events industry and postponement of all our media partnerships. If you can afford to buy the album, even if you don't like every track, it will be a massive support for independent journalism and go a long way to help us fight through this lockdown.⁣⁣

Label boss Marco unearthed Lyon based, Brazilian born @pedro-b-2 during lockdown. Impressed by the young and talented artist's fresh perspective, he snapped him up for three tracks that bring a new and different kind of energy and elements of breaks, house, afro and baile funk that are all designed to make you dance in different and unexpected ways.

Opener 'Abre Caminhos' has tropical sounding percussion and wild jungle noises, bird calls and crashing hits all making for a steamy and shapeshifting tune unlike any other. 'Racine' then masterfully layers up scuffed and shuffling kicks with off-grid percussive rolls and ethnic vocal chants. It's a tribal tune with a humid vibe and killer old school bassline. 'Sai Sacanagem' closes out with a darker, more textured bassline and electro feel that is finished with paranoid vocals and proto-house grooves.

This is weird and wonderful music that fuses organic and synthetic sounds into brave new forms.
