the main track on this release by @deroos. 

this track came to fruition being an experiment to see reach an authentic sound to reflect myself. this whole track is fully composed, arranged, recorded and written by me and it is a true expression of the artistic side of me. 

i describe this a deep ritualistic and mysterious track, with a forward motion, to takes the listener on a journey. the lyrics and vocals represent an emotion that i find hard to grasp at times, being alone, feeling alone but yet surround by energy & feelings all the time. 

this is my first expression within music, i truly hope you enjoy it.

Sometime an artist’s music is so crisp and clear, you can feel it permeate throughout your being. Current New York resident by way of Berlin, Nhii is back on Do Not Sit with four radiant pieces of music on “Motif of Presence”. Each track’s intricacies and melodies sit perfectly balanced between the driving pulse of the dancelfoor and the ethereal feeling of escape. Each are meticulously crafted and invite the listener to hear the subtle nuances and rhythms that make this EP a masterpiece.

AHU PREMIERE: Mood Gorning - Palmyre (Original Mix) [Inward Records]

“I don’t want to witness the death of my language and culture. That would make me complicit, …” says Senegalese Benoit Fader Keita aka Beni Fadi in an interview with The Guardian, shortly after he left Senegal for Europe for the very first time to play at RISE x ElectrAfrique shows. The 36-year-old comes from the Bedik minority of south-east Senegal. Mënik, his mother tongue, is spoken by fewer than 4,000 people. Unesco classifies it as one of nearly 2,500 endangered languages around the world. A few years ago Benoit started out in Dakar, recording music in private and soon he was getting radio play and people began to take him seriously. He believes his music could be key to saving his beloved language from extinction. The EP’s title "Farkoko" (Mënik for “chameleon”) brings him one step closer to his goal. The animal is a strong symbol for the Bedik - adapting to a constantly evolving world.The songs were created deep in Bedik country, close to the Senegalese border with Mali, when RISE and ElectrAfrique joined forces and came to visit Benoit and his community in Bandafassi. The result is this EP, showcasing 3 different ways to make the Mënik language heard. Partners in this project are:Beni Fadi & Passa Beatz & DJ Cortega - "Kedoba" Cortega, a Dakar-based DJ and co-founder of ElectrAfrique, a collective that’s been pushing pan-African electronic music for over ten years. He teamed up with Passa Beatz, a Senegalese music producer known as the sensei of beat making. He is Deedo Dakar Studio’s sound boss and one of the most versatile producers in the country. Together with Bedik musicians they produce a track that blends Afro house and trap with traditional sounds. Beni Fadi & Ukai Ndame & Walter Griot - "Matcha-Matcha" Walter Griot is a Berlin based DJ with Senegalese roots who has been pushing the Afro House movement in Germany for over a decade. He grew up in a traditional Griot family and this project gave him the opportunity to explore a new side of Senegal. He teamed up with Ukai, who was born in Angola and grew up in South Africa. She is known in Berlin for her stylish blends of music and fashion.Ben Fadi & Hyenah - "Kumang" (Don't Accept)Hyenah: visiting Senegal for the first time, wrote Kumang together with Beni Fadi somewhere between the Bandafassi village and the Deedo Dakar Studio. Most of the song was done during a 14 hour van ride. We hope that the Farkoko EP will make the Mënik language known beyond borders and share knowledge about the life and wisdom of the Bedik community.

'#PlasticFreeParty is a collection of conscientious, green-hearted tunes from some of our favourite artists, all brought together to highlight the incredible work being done by our friends at Bye Bye Plastic, the disruptive nonprofit working to eliminate single-use plastics in the music industry and restore Earth balance. The album will be officially launched at this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event with a party organised in collaboration with Levantine House in the luxurious W Amsterdam on release day, Thursday 20th October. A world- first, ground-breaking non-vinyl physical version of the album is also in the works.

Curated by Parisian DJ duo Chambord and released on BLOND:ISH’s ABRACADABRA label, #PlasticFreeParty brings together 14 new tracks from artists like BLOND:ISH, Shiba San, Vander & Deer Jade, Urmet K, Zigan Aldi and Chambord themselves. 100% of the album’s profits will be forwarded to the Bye Bye Plastic Foundation, enabling them to increase their visibility and message. 

Chambord explained how the compilation came to fruition; “In 2020, we worked with Bye Bye Plastic for our first live performance in France. During this time, we gathered a group of friends and associates to create fundraising for this cause and have been working together ever since. We met with Camille from the BBP foundation, and together with Blond:ish we decided to create a music compilation to raise funds. Together we can hopefully achieve our goals and make a difference.”'

Rami Imam has risen up through the ranks from local star to international talent over the last few years. With every release, he serves up a melodic odyssey with soothing tones, deep grooves and powerful sound design. He has released through the likes of Bibliotheque, Street Tracks and Upon Access and now brings more dynamic sounds and ethereal moods on his connected debut.

The sublime 'Akati' soon enchants with its organic house grooves and wooden percussive hits. Choral vocals light up the airwaves with real soul as the majestic synths bring poignancy to this deep roller. On 'Dune Kids', the beats are broken up and take you on a ride through space next to lush chords laden with melancholy. More delicate piano keys and whispered vocals are underpinned with a soft, subtle acid line to make for a tune that builds to a peak full of rejoice. Stylish closer 'Kora' provides more soft but moving drums and melodies, wispy synth motifs and serene vocals. It's packed with the sort of emotion that will make it stand out in any setting.

With “Ubuntu”, Shahrokh Dini translates ancient africanism beats into an epic contemporary state-of-the-art – afro house tune.

Ubuntu, which means humanity in Zulu and describes an African philosophy, reflects Shahrokh’s explicit statement in these wrecked political times. The superb re-work by mastermind David Mayer elevates the original to a deep, mystic and lush afrosphere.

Shahrokh Dini left Karlsruhe, while he is even more active than ever in his old and new basecamp Berlin. Not even that he played a lot of nice gigs during summer (Amsterdam, few times on Ibiza, lot of gigs in Berlin, Italy, Corfu, Sardinia), he is also busy in the studio with several releases and remixes (btw.: one for Compost artist Felix Laband).

After the first release of his new activities: “Now We Can Dance” with the strong and lovely vocals by Illinois, here comes the follow-up “Ubuntu” with a lush David Mayer re-work.

For both releases we can announce stunning remixes by Lehar (Diynamic Music, Connaisseur Recordings), David Mayer (formerly Keinemusik, Ouïe), Apoena (Freerange), Omer Tayar (The Gardens of Babylon/Tel Aviv), Patrick Zigon (Biotop, Traumraum), Tooker (Ouïe, Crosstown Rebels), Kovi and others, which will be out on vinyl, too.
