Society is in crisis - and we need guidance. The Phantom Whistler is the Australian mystic and gun for hire blazing trails across the untamed Wild West.

He was last seen as one half of The Lone Wranglers, a duo dabbling with psychedelia and deep house rooted in ‘Way of the Cowboy’ ('one of the most creative albums of the 2020' — Electronic Groove). This time he rides solo, unleashing a modern spaghetti western that dares to ask questions.

Uone has graced us with a modern rarity: a 15-track full-length concept album, ‘Phantom Whistler’, that pays homage to the Wild West.

Across Phantom Whistler you'll find a cinematic saga. Mind-expanding house and warm electronic ambience transmit with pacifying effect, and Uone juxtaposes moments of solitude and calm with a spiritual groove to preach a righteous truth. It's an organic sound, one leathered in the sun and rinsed in the open plain rivers.

Provocative guitars, harmonicas and indiscriminate field recordings are pulled together by the outlaw's call card: a clear, crystallised frequency; a whistle born during cold nights next to warm campfires. Make no mistake: this right here is an aural tonic, a soundtrack to the greatest medicine ceremony ever assembled.

Creative. Absorbing. Totally neoteric.

Mixed by Australian engineering legend Danny Bonnici in Dolby Atmos, a revolutionary spatial audio technology for the most immersive sound experience, the Phantom Whistler LP will unfurl itself over the course of three months: a new chapter every 3 weeks.

Alongside the album a collection of music videos and animations will accompany created by Australia's leading projection artist Nick Azidis: expect a pastiche filled mood, with atmospheric transformations, nostalgia, and abstract forms. This is more than music, it's an artistic manifesto brave enough to buck the trend.

Tribal drums tap generously on the title track 'Phantom Whistler', a warm deep house number for days covered in dark clouds. With lamenting guitars, trumpets and snapping castanets, it feels Catalan-inspired, a bullfighter reminiscing on a long-lost love and an unforgiving present.

Step into the vibrant world of ITAI's Unfinished Project with Chapter 02 "The Real Matador," released on The Teddy Bear Lounge. As part of this groundbreaking musical endeavor, ITAI presents a series of monthly chapters throughout the year, akin to a captivating TV series. This project defies conventional structures, delivering a raw and authentic experience that evolves with every live performance.

"The Real Matador" embodies the essence of flamenco music, paying homage to its fiery and passionate nature. Drawing inspiration from ITAI's first album, "Flame of Pinecone," this track weaves together Spanish guitars, intense dance rhythms, and the artist's signature jazz-infused style. ITAI's remarkable production prowess shines through, creating a track of exceptional quality.

Milo Gonzalez's live guitar playing adds an authentic touch, while Yemanjo’s trumpet and ITAI's own soprano saxophone and harmonizing vocals bringing an enchanting depth to the composition. Notably, "The Real Matador" marks ITAI's vocal debut, showcasing his versatile talents and further expanding his artistic repertoire.

For its sixth release, Around Midnight chose to showcase the mesmerizing work of French artist Rammö. A prolific producer based in the South of France, Rammö also graced the decks of famous festivals such as Wonderfruit in Thailand, Afrikaburn or Moga Festival to name just a few. His signature sound, a trippy flow mixing only recorded sounds and acid synthesizers, is highlighted in this "Paradox Dream" E.P through 2 originals and 1 remix. "Paradox Plant" leads us to an elevation in slow motion thanks to spellbinding drums combined with distorted synthesizers and incantatory vocals. The track slowly walks us into the depths of our perceptions, where green fumes eventually transform into beautiful and rewarding visions. Baikal Nomads drops a deep and soothing organic house EP by Volzigt which also features remixes from Thommie G and Goro (NL).

Volzigt is a Dutch artist from Amsterdam who is a founding member of the city’s underground music venue Club Escargot, which is famed for being the home of Holland’s downtempo scene. His style is a fusion of ethereal synths, uplifting melodies and flowing percussion. Along with being a talented DJ, Volzigt has also released stunning tracks and remixes on labels ranging from Shango Records to his own Obscure Records, and this is his second time working with Baikal Nomads.

On remix duty, @goro-music is a Dutch artist who has close ties to Volzigt through being a resident at his Obscure events. He is also a respected producer whose enchanting style fuses trippy atmospherics with rhythmic percussion that creates captivating grooves focused at the dance floor. He has previously featured on Baikal Nomads along with other record labels such as Cafe De Anatolia, MONADA and Kosa.

@thomas-gaarthuis is a Dutch artist living in the city of Haarlem, and he is a Baikal Nomads regular who has an entrancing style of organic house, which can also be found on other scene leading record labels such as Sol Selectas, Magician On Duty, and Camel Riders.

“Blistered Paw” is the first of the two originals and it has psychedelic guitar chords fused with spine-tingling atmospheric synths and a thickset bassline. The track has a haunting vibe with intricate sound design.

Second of the original tracks is, “Pablo's” and it’s got a chugging groove with a pulsating bassline and angelic pads that are carried forth by a plodding kick drum and shuffling hi-hats. Its mesmerising atmosphere is both epic and immersive.

Goro (NL)’s remix of Blistered Paw is a hallucinatory version which adds additional atmospherics to create a spellbinding rework. Thommie G lifts the energy with his up-tempo remix of Blistered Paw which works in extra percussion and a new bassline.

Afterhour Sounds is since his begining in 2012 a crew of music lovers, music makers and music supporters. What started as an small idea developed over the years into an important institution in the field of electronic dance in and beyond germany. Our goal was and still is to enrich the world with different interpretations of the afterhour. 

In the beginning, we focused our passion on finding and supporting (un)known artists through blog posts, reposts and podcast contributions. Gradually, we expanded our sections to include live recordings and premieres. In-house releases and events were not long in coming. The crew changed, but the passion and spirit remained.
