Hat Kid replaces Sans in this AU. After Bow Kid leaves, her journey having come to an end, Hat Kid is the one that decides to call her and let her know how things are going back on the planet she left behind. Most of the time, that is. (I'm too lazy to explain further than that though, go read the Neutral Endings write-up lol.)

I'm late to the punch by a couple days, but for the 1-year anniversary of my starting this AU OST, I wanted to give the track that (ironically enough) started it all a new coat of paint. Compared to the V1, I decided to strip this track "back to basics," so to speak. There are some *tiny* transcription additions, and I actually took more inspiration from this track's namesake for the backing strings/choir in the second half, but otherwise I wanted this new version to be closer in spirit to the original An Ending from UT.
Also I'll fully admit something here. Belowexchange's "What Comes Next" (https://soundcloud.com/silverswap/what-comes-next) -- which is fucking fantastic btw! -- is what inspired me to put both the V1 from my main and this new version in the key of F minor (and also influenced the backing a bit.) The way I initially did it on the V1 though was... fucking messy, to say the least. Redid it from the ground up and actually crossreferenced a proper *SCALE* for F minor this time, so everything on this update should now be one consistent key lmao.
All in all, I am FAR happier with how this attempt turned out, and I hope you guys enjoy! --Ashley

The CAW Agents replace Muffet in this AU. After Mustache Girl's line of "bad guys" got too long to judge, she gave up on "proper" justice altogether. She uses the CAW Agents as her beaks on the ground, to keep everyone in line. She gave them new uniforms with her insignia, and appointed one CAW Agent that she gave a red outfit as the leader. Nowadays however, the CAW Agents' actions are almost never based on any actual orders from Mu, cause said orders are *no longer coming.* ...Not that the general public would know this, at any rate.
Everyone, especially Hat Kid and the Conductor, dislikes them for constantly bugging everybody with asinine questions.

Also it's only part of the opening (and only a small section of it,) but I FINALLY managed to work an actual motif even vaguely related to the CAW Agents into the melody - Murder on the Owl Express!

Mustache Girl takes on a hybrid Asgore and Asriel role. The time that she hasn't been looking forward to has arrived: it's the ultimate clash, where "good" will triumph over "evil." Or at least... that's what she forces herself to believe. Deep down, however, she knows that either her or Bow won't make it out of this scrape alive. Mu's tired, and has been for a long while now, but that won't stop her from putting up one final stand for her "righteous" goal. Bow's certainly going to have her work cut out for her!

Cooking Cat and Goofy Mafia share the role of Toriel. Mafia Town being covered in lava forced practically everyone out, and this unlikely duo is no exception. Being nicer and more open than the others, Goofy and Cookie very quickly found common ground, and a friendship formed from there. Not having much else to do anymore, they help watch over Subcon Forest and the new Mafia settlements there (which Mafia Boss and Snatcher don't always make easy.)
When Bow's spaceship crash lands, Cooking Cat is ready and raring to help as always! As for Goofy Mafia... his fear of "slimy space aliens" is still here. It moreso comes out as general distrust and skittishness around Bow for now, but who KNOWS what turn this'll take as the journey progresses? (i do lmao)

Been feeling for the longest while that the old Fallen Down, as used to be heard on my main... sucked *royal ass.* Was defo wanting to redo it, whether that was me taking a new crack at it or commissioning someone, but then. I heard this beautiful track from Nahg (https://soundcloud.com/hyperalt/little-one,) and knew right away what route I wanted to take. So some money and time later, with a side of `waiting for my new computer to be fucking usable` for good measure, I'm now proud to have the pleasure of presenting this to you all! Nahg did an awesome job with making this come to life, and (especially with the Reprise) he really nailed what I was going for.

Anyhow, this was part of the same commission cycle as the original version that I also got from Nahg. For the context of this scene in the AU, I've decided to edit the track to give it the same "uncanny" effect as Her Spaceship gets in AHIT proper (after either Grooves or Conductor win the award.) Prolly not gonna properly write it for a fat minute, just because I don't have many ideas for how to flesh out specific character interactions/dialogue pieces just yet, but I imagine it would be a clash of tones - the upbeat "we're all together again" vibe of UT's scene melding with the whole "man fuck this stupid red hooded child and the air she breathes" type of vibe from AHIT's Get Lost scene.

Some Alpine Pompous Crow-nies replace Dogamy and Dogaressa, and the Slighty Bigger Alpine Pompous Crow (their leader) takes on the role of Lesser Dog. The Crow-nies have leather jackets... somehow. And when I say that their leader is a Slighty Bigger crow, I really mean *Slightly.* Like... only 1-2 inches.
Mafia Boss siccs them on Bow during a Pacifist/Neutral route, just to be an annoyance. She'll come out on top, but not before dealing with some Greased Lightning. ...You know, fried chicken sounds really good right about now.

The Empress takes the role of Undyne. She already had a major sense of resentment to Bow Kid before (however misplaced it may have *initially* been on other routes,) but as her cat goons are mercilessly whittled down to nothing in the Entropy route... something finally snaps, beyond the point of no return. She's consumed by the urge for vengeance for not just herself, but for all of her Nyakuza (the only ones she even *remotely* cared about aside from herself,) leading to her bringing out something that hadn't been thought about for years: a prototypical battle suit made for one of the Conductor's movies, stolen and (somewhat amateurishly) modified to be WAY more deadly by Empress' crew. It was intended as a "last resort" trump card, and is being used as just that in a sense. However selfish and ignoble her motivations may be, and as MUCH as people outside of the Metro fear/dislike her, Empress' final stand here will (ironically enough) determine ALL of their fates.

So! I'll be going back to work on Tuesday, albeit with some restrictions. Wish I'd gotten more done during my leave of absence, but oh well. (Also ik the name on this one is kinda weak sauce, but I can't think of ANYTHING else that even remotely fits the context soooooo XP)
I'm still putting some finishing touches on one of the other tracks I commissioned, so I'm going even more out of order here with the Empress tracks for the Entropy route! In a bit of a parallel with the MEGALOVANIA (and also cause I thought it was fitting,) I actually suggested Antasma's Theme from Mario & Luigi Dream Team as a stylistic reference when commissioning this from Shade. He did a *fantastic* job of taking that and making it his own, while still being fitting for Empress (especially on this route.)

Trapped by the people she already turned against her years ago, by her (in hindsight) rather bullheaded quest that's lost all its appeal of pursuing, by the all-encompassing kingdom she never realized she didn't want... and by an unending feeling of loneliness and sadness. The spark that started this mess is long gone (and that's putting it lightly,) but Mu sure as hell isn't going to actually say it, let alone give up without a fight. Cause the one thing that never *truly* went away was Mu's stubborness/committment, no matter how much it tears her apart inside.

Hat Kid is in the role of Sans. The whole dinner scene thing earlier on in the AU is still chill n all, but after Bow's final encounter with Conductor, Hattie can't help but feel bad for not giving her the full truth about things as they currently stood (and has been wracked with publically-repressed guilt over the state of the world for years now.) So in another twist, *Hat Kid* is actually the one that largely gives the whole backstory monologue thing to Bow. Though some of the NPCs on the sidelines *do* still chime in ever so often with their own comments about how much Mustache Girl sucks... much to Hat Kid's discomfort.

Still not the actual track I commissioned from Kristian, but I figured "hey, while I have the ACTUAL Memory replacement now, and since I think the old version sucked ass, let's redo the Track 71 replacement too!" Definitely more "minor" sounding than the old one, and nowhere near as chipper in tone, but I think this fits a bit better now.
Did still reuse a fair few aspects from the V1, namely a lot of the instrumentation and general progression, but everything was pitched down/adjusted as needed to match the new Memory replacement (https://soundcloud.com/ahit-times-end-ost/reflections-past.) Wound up replacing and swapping in other motifs in certain cases, even though one of them is likely blended in a bit *too* well in this final mix lmao. This track probably more *directly* reveals the influence behind the actual commissioned track -- the His Theme for the AU (ik shocker to end all shockers) -- and thus, what this and the Memory were built from. ;)
