The Sakya Buddhist Centre (Sakya Thinley Rinchen Ling) was founded in Bristol in 1977 by Karma Thinley Rinpoche and Lama Jampa Thaye. The Centre enables people to learn the systems of meditation and study of the Sakya tradition of Buddhism, which is currently led by H.H. Sakya Trizin, who has visited the Centre and given teachings on numerous occasions. The Centre has hosted teachings by a number of other distinguished Buddhist masters, such as H.E. Phende Rinpoche, H.E. Sakya Dagchen Rinpoche and H.E. Jetsun Kushog Rinpoche.
The Sakya Centre is run by volunteers and funded by donations. The Centre is administered by the Thinley Rinchen Ling Trust, registered charity no. 282717.

Lama Jampa Thaye is a scholar and meditation master trained in the Sakya and Karma Kagyu traditions of Buddhism.  His principal masters are His Holiness Sakya Trizin and Karma Thinley Rinpoche.  Lama Jampa Thaye is one of a handful of western teachers to have mastered, and been granted permission to transmit, the authentic teachings of the Buddha.  He holds a doctorate from the University of Manchester for his work on Tibetan religious history and is married with four children.  His teaching style is characterised by his erudition and gentle humour, which illuminate the wisdom of the Buddha's timeless teachings. His daily life consists of study, composition and teaching: he is untiring in his efforts to raise the victory banner of the glorious dharma.
