The enigmatic New York-through-Brooklyn producer takes us by the hand and leads us through the darkness, forcing us to feel our way to the light with the aid of an intricately woven tapestry of industrial textures and bodies of metal.

Whilst at first the buildings threatened to topple him, the lights to blind him and the traffic’s hiss to penetrate right through to his bones, he now found himself at peace with the city. Realising that he himself made up one part of its hostile landscape – his body litter on the pavement and his breath pollution in the air – he wondered what it meant to live in harmony with one’s surroundings. Did his apartment floorboards cry as he moved across them? Did the tram ache with the the heavy load of every day? He resolved that the city was necessarily a place of angst, and in that knowledge he found clarity and comfort.
 
Rookley presents the ninth addition to the Aimend catalogue – the imprint he established in 2017 as a platform for the moody atmospherics which he produces as meditations on the city as place and environment. The 7-track LP entitled ‘Playground’ is at once introspective and outward-facing, casting the intimate sensation of human flesh as well as the alien hardness of metal. Translated in three singles already made available, this at times sounds like mournful synth swells (‘Garage’) and at others clattering breaks and confused vocal fragments (‘Run’ and ‘Parasite’).

A hard-hitting, syncopated beat lends ‘Panic’ its driving propulsion, maintaining its solidity as other percussive layers are drowned in reverb. The track reaches a climax with the help of choral wails which build under Burial-esque ambience which is seemingly identifiable yet composed in a way that makes it bizarre.

It was an absolute pleasure to remix Yianna, when I first heard the original I really connected with the lyrics and how they were a plea for love and to be truly loved. I wanted the remix to be raw and in your face to match this, and found it in the chopped ‘Say you want it’ and heavy dirty synth drops. DALEE in on! The arabic-german R’n’B singer releases her debut Single on April fifth through Aimend. Her soulful energetic opening track promises our R’n’B Charts a new ladyship! 

The name of DALEE’s new single is Supernova, and will be featured on her first EP released on the berlin-based label Aimend. Drawing inspiration from timeless Soul & R’n’B, DALEE developed her era bridging style, telling her story in a modern sound spectrum. 

Connecting art with day-to-day experiences her open hearted approach combines jazzy melody lines with lofi  sound aesthetics. DALEE comes from the western part of Germany, has her artistic roots in London and Iraq and is based in Berlin right now. She draws influences from fellow artists like Floetry and Jill Scott. DALEE is the modern-day Audrey Hepburn, combining an avid fighting spirit with a bright naiveté. Taking up Viola at the age of 6, she began piano lessons three years later and by the age of 14, she was composing her own manifold material. 

The track Supernova introduces into DALEE’s storyline. Her next releases will disclose the chapters of her first EP little by little. 
Full of feel and softness, her voice wraps around the ears and spill a drop of pure rose-red joy into your brain. Leon P’s productions give her new track the proper kick. The perfect tonality of sweet mellow ripeness and a touch of peach skin deliver the listener softly upon a bed of silk cushions. 

Over the next releases, DALEE will expose the full extend of her biography. „I'm taking the audience on a journey, a journey shared for everyone.” She says.DALEE tells stories about the setbacks in life, and how they can be overcome with an open heart. In the radiating mixture between Neo Soul music and her arabic roots, DALEE allows only for a single description to her music: “pure”.

In the single Eden, she describes the force of rhythm and attraction taking over on her like a wave. Yet giving her the energy to feel free in her safety. It is a song of flow, of up’s and downs.

International songwriter and singer A GIRL CALLED FRANK releases her debut single! Set out to build her own artist career, she releases the track “Sabotage” via her own Label FRANKLY.
Together with Jan & Levon Van der Toorn, FRANK wrote and produced her first Single to be released. SABOTAGE is a contemporary pop song with alt-rock mixed with bass driven electronica and R’n’B.
Sabotage starts off with a massive synth scenery, entering her vulnerable, forceful voice. On hard, dominant bass drums she almost drowns with the words “I self sabotage like a Pro it’s an art / 
And I don’t mind company / If you don’t mind the honesty” – just when the production of Jan van der Toorn builds up A flowing chorus with heartbreaking vocals comes in and ends on a violent reveal.
She tells the story about the experience of breaking a toxic circle. With straightforward honesty FRANK tells the story of her trying to confront her weaker self, well aware of her own hurtful truth of 
self-destructiveness. Although judging hard on her own story, the song with it’s forceful synth variations are nonetheless uplifting. Sabotage is about acceptance, friendship and self-knowledge.
