Bás in Éirinn (may you die in Ireland)

This mix, titled Bás in Éirinn, is based on the experience of leaving and returning to Ireland. Featuring a selection of Irish traditional music, sean nós, electronic music and poetry. The history of Ireland is a history of struggle, one of these being the necessity to emigrate. With many people I know often talking about their desire or plans to leave Ireland to find more secure futures elsewhere, this mix is a reminder of all that has been created here. And to look towards a new horizon with hope at what is to come; that anyone can choose to live their life in an Ireland that is led with the interests of the people at heart, from the plough to the stars.

"J’ai fait du stop direction le Moulin des Arbres en Haute-Loire. Et après 6 voitures, j’ai rejoint tout un tas de gens au bord d’un lac. Le soir, j’ai dormi dans une chambre avec 6 ou 7 personnes. Sacrée bande que j’ai croisée là. Comme souvent, des moments particuliers et intenses sont vecteurs de rencontres profondes. Dès le lendemain, on s’est mis au travail pour préparer le festival, installer de la déco, faire la signalétique, pendant que petit à petit le lieu se remplissait de nouvelles rencontres à faire.
Et puis improviser aussi des plats pour 20 personnes. Faire des gâteaux énormes, ce genre de choses. Le festival en lui-même a été une zone magique, de lumières, de rencontres, de rires et aussi de quelques larmes. On aura dansé avec les sorcières et les fées au milieu de grands arbres, les pieds sur une terre qui respire. On aura dansé d'un bout à l'autre de la nuit avec, comme phare, un bar éclairé de guirlandes et baigné d’une lumière de lampe de chevet. Et on s’y sera retrouvé comme dans un village pour rejoindre les visages familiers que la nuit a avalés. On aura peu dormi, mais chaque seconde aura été étirée et vécue jusqu’à la dernière goutte. Et puis, après la marée, doucement, les gens nous ont quittés. Et je suis parti moi aussi. Étonnamment, direction Lyon, encore. Et après tout ça, retrouver la chaleur et le soleil de l’endroit qui m’a vu grandir. Épuisé de lumières et de rencontres." Ljо́tur
