This is a track I created several months ago for a beat-maker competition that was supposed to be held here in Chicago... it was cancelled the day before. I've had this track sitting around ever since... it uses a sample of "Chhabeela" from the (completely fantastic) Bollywood film "Saawariya".

I started working on this beat around 8:00 PM today. (I'm posting this at 9:45 PM.) I felt like sampling a Bollywood track, so I Googled "best bollywood music 1970s" and found...this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpM0jPd6-7w

"Chingari Koi Bhadke," by Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore, from the movie Amar Prem. 

I just took the intro from that track, looped it, and added BEATS and BASS.

I also managed to make a synth patch that kinda-sorta emulates that classic, perfectly-distorted old-school Bollywood string sound. (I maintain it's probably the best lead sound that exists anywhere.) I still haven't gotten Bollywood melodies down, but that's just time and practice.

For less than two hours' work, I like where this went.

I just updated my OP-1! And as I was scrolling around, checking out the updates, I ran into a drum patch called "GHEE."

Um, YES????

So I ran with it. putting together a basic beat, pulling in a SICK kick from another new drum patch (strangely, they got rid of the old patches), and then I sampled "Chhup Gaye Saare Nazaare" by Lata Mangeshkar & Moh Rafi, from the movie "Do Raaste."

And just like that, BOLLYWOOD HIP-HOP RETURNS.
