The Trail Of Evidence You'd Kill To Hide [ML11_2]

This particular media music sketch was inspired by film music common to scenes scored in mid 20th century Hollywood productions, similar to the orchestration styles of Henry Mancini, Walter Scharf, dancer Gene Kelly, and others.

Sonified for a brief that might include scoring for a high-end Jazz Blues Bar, using the piano as a central instrument, and sweetened with strings and woodwinds, giving the feeling of a fun mystery just beginning between the characters.

Pool Life Summer [Installation composite]

The musical examples here are excerpts from a 2009 sonification experiment. The resonant frequencies of the hydrogen particle (and 3 of its atomic emission spectra-line series) were employed as pitch-sets. These frequency scales, I believe, represent the natural inter-mural harmonies that are inherent within the structure of this particular atomic element. From this “matter artifact”, harmolodic-style free improvisations were obtained. Unfretted string instruments were used for this interpretive performance –- two double-bassists, a violinist, myself (fretless guitar-synth), and drumkit percussion.
