Founded in 2020 Future Avenue is an electronic music imprint which operates under the Sound Avenue umbrella. Sitting alongside fellow subdivisions 3rd Avenue and Crossfade Sounds, Future Avenue looks to provide a home for new and rising talent. With an ethos centred around progressive music and its surrounding derivatives, the label is a platform which gives up and coming artists a chance to showcase their music alongside established veterans as they carve out their own musical identity.

The 100th release welcomes Leandro Murua from Cordoba, Argentina back to the label with his "Anjuna EP". Recently Leandro released music on labels such as Modern Architect, Another Life Music, BC2 and Stellar Black.

This week we welcome a fantastic up-and-coming DJ from the province of Santiago del Estero in Argentina’s interior. Anto Romano has loved music from her childhood and has nurtured a passion to absorb, learn and study a variety of sounds, typically on the melodic side. She has developed a versatile style in her track selection, and this has opened a number of doors for her as a progressive DJ who knows how to borrow from deep, organic and progressive house, melodic techno and even ethereal among others.

Anto started her journey as a DJ in 2019 and has been one of the key movers of the electronic music scene in her home province, where acceptance remains elusive. At the age of 24 she has already been behind the decks at many of her city’s events and most of its good bars including Mamba Negra, Antares, BBQ, Patagonia, Francis Bar and Roonin. Her sets have been played on a number of radio stations including Capital 101.3 FM, Planeta Groove Radio, Buenos Aires’ Phoenix Sonido Selecto on 102.9 FM, Radio House in Tucuman, the Influencias radio show in Corrientes, and Dinamica Radio in Santa Fe. In addition, she has started to appear internationally on Loops Radio (Turkey) and Cosmos Radio (Germany).

Her style is inspired by the likes of Hernan Cattaneo, Guy J, Sasha, John Digweed, Soul Button, FOLGAR, Soundexile, Artfaq, Antrim, Ezequiel Arias and Martin Garcia among others. Anto is planning to start producing.

This is her first Canadian appearance and Ottawa Prog Vibes is thrilled to have her as our guest for this week’s episode.

This week we feature an Ottawa stalwart and dear friend of mine. @pithra is well known as a DJ and as one of the founders of @music-art-ppl, one of our city’s most important music and creative collectives. I’ve had the pleasure of playing events with him and his live performances never fail to get people furiously dancing with a huge smile on all night.

Inspired by progressive, deep & minimal house from the 2005-2009 era, Pithra’s journey as a DJ started in 2010. From intimate house parties to clubs and festivals, Pithra is a versatile DJ who has a passion for music with a selection ranging through Deep, Prog, Melodic, Afro, Tribal House & Techno. Pithra is passionate about community and bringing people together.

What a first-class edition we have here! Sydney based producer George Alhabel, after a sophisticated progressive release on Mango Aley, is signing his debut EP for One Of A Kind!

Fully deservedly noticed and supported by the great artists, George Alhabel continues with a quality progressive groove and beautiful notes that penetrate into that old so-called euro-trance feeling.
To our great satisfaction, the "Wasps" tape he is signing is no less quality than his previous releases, even more so, perhaps his most promising song so far.

We complete the release with two phenomenal remixes, one of which was commissioned by the almighty AMPISH, a producer we shouldn't waste words on, because every true fan of progressive and trance music knows who he is. The second remix was in charge of the duo Around Us, which comes to us from Amsterdam, which are an indispensable part of the Dutch and world progressive scene in the last few years. Both remixes have their own signature, where with AMPISH you can expect a little stronger and sharper groove, while the melodies are an accompanying part of each of his songs, while Around Us gives importance to the ambience and emotion of the music of the song "Wasps"!

We are starting the new year with a very special guest.

Jordi Giménez was born in Barcelona and currently lives in Sitges. His DJ experience goes back to 1994 and he immediately came under the influence of the sounds that defined Eastern Spain in those days.
Throughout his journey, Jordi has experimented with a wide range of genres. He dabbled with the “harder” sounds of the mid- to late-90’s, then evolved through trance, techno and tech house before arriving at today’s progressive sounds. The style that most influenced him was early 2000’s trance.

In addition to his long track record as a DJ, Jordi was also a key collaborator in one of the most prestigious electronic music radio shows out of Valencia, MDT (La Máquina del Tiempo). His sets were broadcast all across Spain multiple times.

Jordi’s style is instantly recognizable. When creating and mixing a set, his dynamic transitions, fader play and blend of genres and styles to create stories and musical narratives all combine into a unique signature sound.

More recently, Jordi won the 2020 World Championship of Progressive House DJ’s, which has raised his global visibility.

He currently plays in the broader range of progressive house and melodic techno. His sessions leave no one indifferent. This one he prepared for Ottawa Prog Vibes is a memorable one, check it out.

We continue our guest series with another exceptional DJ.

George Vargas is a DJ and producer born in Athens in 1984. He has performed at several cafes and clubs in Athens (Buzz, Mamacas, Mikro, PIXI, Island, Bronxx, Akanthus, Hive, Aroma) and has shared decks with Henry Saiz and Nick Varon. He has toured internationally, playing clubs and events in Argentina, Egypt and Denmark.

His sound, varying from chill-out and lounge to deep house, tech house, melodic techno and progressive house, has always been something special for his listeners. His sets are played by radio stations across the globe, including as Monkey Radio in India, Prime FM in Hungary, Innervisions & Deepin Radio in the UK, ClubMu in the USA, BIN Radio in Romania, MUV in Mauritius, Golden Wings Music Radio, Nube Radio and MixOne FM in Argentina (where he hosted monthly radio shows called "Wobble" and "Relentless" respectively), BeRadio & Radio Must in Greece and many more. 

As a producer, in 2011 he did a remix for Michel de Hey’s "Curly Wurly" track, in 2012 a remix of the track "Grasshopper" from dPen & Nick Varon as bootleg and a remix of "Russian lights" for Kenneth Thomas's remix contest. In 2014 he got his first track released, a remix of @manuf_producer’s "My Paradise" on @greensnakemusic, to great feedback.

Along with his devotion to music, his musical inspiration originates from the sounds of Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J and Henry Saiz, as well as other Greek and foreign DJs, giving his sets and productions a special and unique sound.

I have been following George’s music for several years and have been a fan of his from day one. This is an exclusive set he has prepared for Ottawa Prog Vibes and it is a special thrill to have him as our guest this week.

Performing live for decades, Toronto-based DJ Producer Amber Long has trademarked a sound that is svelte and uniquely her own. Sought after globally and supported by big name artists like Armin Van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Aly & Fila, John Digweed, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, her lyrics, voice and productions are well known amongst the Underground Music Community. Passionate and animated, Amber is the living demonstration of an artist who loves her work passionately and intensely and continually tears up dance floors across the world.

Amber Long broke into the international DJ scene playing at Ministry of Sound in London, followed shortly thereafter with gigs in Qatar, Greece, the Netherlands, Israel, Argentina, the USA, Mexico, Jamaica, and Spain - with more countries added to the growing tour list each year. Amber’s live vocals at Ministry of Sound set her apart from other DJs on the scene as one of the only female producers to perform live vocals during a set. ADE 2016 and 2017 and in Bahrein Buenos Aires were treated to this one of a kind performance her fans have come to know and love. Long sings live for what she deems special occasions.

Aside from DJing globally, Amber Long runs Toronto-based independent labels Modern Agenda, Modern Architect and Honey Drops – all brands that focus on giving back to their large roster of artists. Modern Agenda is rapidly becoming a go-to label for music lovers and artists alike and Honey Drops carries a different flavor, encouraging artists to share their ambient and down tempo creations.

This week our guest series features a spellbinding set by a very talented DJ and producer from Spain’s third largest city, Valencia.

Growing up in the 80’s, @godinbols spent hours and hours listening to opera and classical music records from his parents. Going through the new wave phase and now, at a much later age, very much influenced by the melodic & progressive techno.

In addition to being a prolific and talented DJ, Godinbols released his debut EP on Belgium’s renowned label @tanzgemeinschaft in 2020, a compilation with fabulous work. Now, in 2021, he rejoins the family with “The Endless Journey” debut EP with a three-tracker backed by a super remix of Madd Rod.

We are proud to present his exclusive set for Ottawa Prog Vibes that I know you will enjoy. It is rich in melody and groove and shows a musical sensibility that speaks volumes about the warm Mediterranean vibes that soak throughout this journey.

The underground electronic music scene in Russia is alive and kicking, well beyond Moscow and St-Petersburg. Our guest this week, @lastveekdj, hails from Rostov-on-Don, a city about the size of Ottawa and an important port just east of the Ukrainian border. It was one of the host cities of the FIFA 2018 World Cup.

Lastveek’s acquaintance with electronic music began with the compositions “Ethnicolor” by Jean Michel Jarre & “We Are The Robots” by Kraftwerk in the early 90’s. Over the years he developed an even greater interest in electronic music and discovered many musicians, the greatest influence on him during that period was Tijs Michiel Verwest as Tiesto, Nigel Dawson with his project “Dominion” & John Digweed. Lastveek began to attend various events and private parties in the 2000's continuing to form his taste of music, started mixing in 2008. Currently continues as a dj in clubs & radio stations.

His mixing is particularly skillful and his ear for progressive is truly global in his range of tastes. His sets have been featured on @friskyradio and on @proton_radio. We are very happy to present this fantastic and exclusive mix on Ottawa Prog Vibes

ABOUT OTTAWA PROG VIBES

Alain M.'s weekly podcast, Ottawa Prog Vibes, is now in its 7th year and is a recognized presence among Canadian Electronica shows. The show has two goals: showcase progressive DJ's from Ottawa (and Canada) to a global audience, and bring international DJ guests to an Ottawa (and Canadian) audience). 

Alain plays three out of every 10 shows. His mixing has been noted as particularly creative and smooth, a skill that allow his sets to be experienced as seamless stories.

An offshoot series, called Mellow Prog Vibes, is released every two weeks and focuses on more chill vibes, slightly more downtempo, to create a more relaxed vibe. It is curated by OPV resident DJ Boraa, who plays every other episode, with guest DJs playing the alternate.

Ottawa Prog Vibes and Mellow Prog Vibes are broadcast weekly on UK's Saturo Radio, New York's Chill Lover Radio and Ottawa's Blast the Radio.


ABOUT ALAIN M.

Alain M. started dj’ing in his early 20s and played a variety of clubs, big and small, in Ottawa, Montreal and Kingston. From teenage influences in progressive rock, metal and blues, and later New York and Chicago house, Dutch techno and early trance, his style has evolved towards the more melodic, infectiously rhythmic and thoughtful sounds of progressive house, with a particular fondness for Argentinian productions.

Over his 30+ years as a DJ, Alain has cultivated a signature melodic, danceable, and thoughtful style with enough surprises to keep even the most devout listeners on their toes. His live events, organized only a few times annually, are a hypotonic, transformational experience for attendees, putting the Nation’s Capital on the map for electronic music. He has organized and collaborated in a number of events including Levitar, Sunday Meet & Beat, Sit-Down Sessions, Shake my Thursday and Expeditions, attracting a thoughtful crowd who stay mesmerized by his melodic, danceable sets, always peppered with delightfully unexpected sonic elements.

Alain M. is also a guest DJ submitting regular sets to several radio and online outlets. He is a resident on X-Beat Radio (France, Belgium). He was a monthly resident on Abyss Sound Experience on QuestLondon Radio in 2021 and on UK-based Beach Radio between 2021 and 2024.

He has appeared as a guest on a number of shows in several countries including the UK, Argentina, Spain, Poland, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Peru, Turkey, Israel and the US. In Canada, he has been featured as a guest DJ at several events by Ottawa-based Music.Art.Ppl, on CHUO FM’s Vanguard Pulse Radio, on CKCU FM’s Lost In Bass and Mapped Out Radio, on Montreal’s Afterhour radio show and on Toronto’s ION radio show.
