This mix is for Adam, my most dear and most hilarious of friends.  In addition to riding the wave of life, the good and the bad, we have spent nearly 35 years with a mission to make each other laugh more than the other.  Sometime many many years ago, we were watching Star Trek ‘The Next Generation’ and were presented with the character Ship Counsellor Deanna Troi. Deanna has given us a feeling of great joy and gratitude over the years with her empathic powers as she senses her way through the galaxy, and we’ve used her lines many times to describe a mutual observation, a moment in time or when there was no other way to explain something; and always with a double or hidden meaning. Counsellor Troi is the gift that keeps on giving and it’s about time there was a mix dedicated to her! 

Music notes:
This is a slower mix at 120bpm with lots of floaty, space inspired sounds. It’s not dance music! I’ve had a lot of this music up my sleeve for sometime and could have made a mix about 4 hours long with this vibe of sounds from unused music in my library. I absolutely love track 2. Lovely Mistake by Armen Mirin (which is actually the first track of music in the mix).  Track 4. Menari by Slow Hearts is one I purchased a couple of years back and have finally found a home for it, it’s music from aliens.  Track 7. Fernweh by Useh is one I’ve used in a previous mix, but it wasn’t this version which is the SEVN (CA) remix; this version is a wicked little genre breaking track, one part techno, one part trance, one part downtempo organic house.  Superb!! 
Favourite track has to be track 11. Love in Space by Fulltone… I’ve used it before in a very early mix (M4) and had to bring it back for this mix.  It’s 100% Albert, pure popcorn, gorgeous and happy and fluffy and it makes me smile. 
You’ll hear Counsellor Troi from time to time throughout this mix. Like all good empaths, she’s feeling it.

Swirl People revisit their roots with a nostalgic four track EP from their early days as Fortune Cookie. This collection - which is their third release on L.I.T.S. - features carefully selected tracks from their original 1996 releases on Marguerite, a small label run by a friend. Nearly three decades later, these still much sought-after tracks are finally being reissued. The EP opens with 'Glitter Girls,' which is characterised by a catchy bassline, followed by the deep groove of 'Um Bongo.' On the B-side, 'Galactic Snackbar' offers a retro-futuristic feel, while 'Frisko Heaven' wraps up the EP with classic disco-filtered house energy. Timeless tackle, for sure.
