Carte postale d’une époque et véritable madeleine de Proust, cette fois-ci direction les années 80s pour plus d’une heure de musiques et d’actualités qui ont rythmé la décennie ; de la chute du mur de Berlin à l’arrivée du Minitel en passant par la sortie d’E.T.
Ce concept n’aurait certainement jamais vu le jour sans le travail du duo australien Flight Facilities qui nous ont inspirés en réalisant plusieurs mixtapes en anglais sur le même thème. Nous voulions, à notre tour, proposer ce format avec un regard plus personnel sur cette époque et une dimension francophone qui nous tient à coeur.

For our next podcast, we welcome the highly anticipated Frazi.er.

One one of Scotland’s most prominent techno talents, Frazi.er is an artist who is definitively pioneering the latest generation of clubbing fanatics. His unique highly-sought-after brand of uncompromising, rave-oriented techno has been drawing the praises of all who have witnessed him in the flesh, and at his age he has already played in over 30 countries across the globe.
Releasing on Mutual Rytm, Hydraulix, ISARN & just launched his own imprint PARALLEL VISIONS. 

Although he is very versatile, his sound carries an old school techno core, a pulsating low end & hypnotic drive.

Hailing from an industrious town in Central Scotland with a long history of deprivation, it’s fair to say there has been no shortage of music hungry admirers. 

Frazi.er’s experience focused club nights have become one of the most hard to grab tickets in his home country, selling out The Hydro one of the biggest arenas in Europe, not once but twice - securing himself two plaques on their Wall Of Fame & unexpectedly got a mention in parliament. None better tells this story than the Open To Close at SWG3’s “Galvanizer” warehouse selling out 2dates in 14minutes, while fully crashing Resident Advisor. 

The night consists of long, high intensity techno, a light show that wouldn't look out of place at any of Europe’s top festivals and the first in the UK to introduce a 'no camera policy', much to the delight of clubbers. It comes with no surprise that legend’s Slam, asked him to do a special b2b to close Riverside Festival, as two worlds collide for an iconic combination.

At an early stage in his career, Frazi.er collaborated with Pan-Pot in a remix of their legendary ‘Confronted' track - celebrating 10 years of the release.
The construction of this remix really highlights his forward thinking, creative skills and revolutionary vision. This release in combination with a mind-warping music video resulted in a grand slam project and became a huge hit on YouTube.

Frazi.er is no stranger to the scene playing legendary clubs such as Fabric London Room 1, RSO Berlin, Dc10 Ibiza, Grelle Forelle Vienna, Faust in South Korea, Fabrik Madrid & many more.

Today, Parfait is a leading figure among the new generation of influential DJs, committed to promoting the spirit of free, inclusive, and safe parties. Beyond DJing, she also directs and writes films. A versatile and inquisitive artist, her diverse range of expressions lends her style a precise and unique quality.

She is currently preparing to launch her label, "Comme dans les films," which will further showcase her commitment to making people dance while challenging the rigid norms of the heteropatriarchy.

PARFAIT | Techno Visions Podcast 020

For our next podcast, we welcome Raven.

Raven possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of techno history, exceptional technical skill, discerning taste, and a genuine commitment to the underground scene. Her EPs "Flames" (2020) and "Mania" (2021), which blend her hypnotic vocals with driving beats, were released on Radio Slave’s label, Rekids. Her unique sound caught the attention of Amelie Lens, who featured Raven's track “Metal on Metal” on Exhale VA002 (2021) and Global Underground #44 (2022). Since then, Raven has become a regular at Amelie Lens’ EXHALE and has performed at Awakenings, Unreal Germany, and Berghain.

Raven’s dark, intense sets are not for the faint-hearted. Influenced by a wide range of sources from The Ring to Joey Beltram, her fusion of acid, trance, and rave defies genre boundaries and always surprises. Despite her forward-thinking approach, Raven's love for pre-2000 tracks resonates with the current mix of futurism and nostalgia in club culture.

Known as the "techno Tinkerbell," Raven (her real name) has had a diverse musical journey, from writing songs at age 7 to singing in a gospel choir. The Canadian-born artist started DJ'ing out of necessity, unable to find artists playing the music she wanted to hear. She began with a weekly rave series in an abandoned Toronto building and has since spread her sound globally, performing in cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Mexico City, Barcelona, and Berlin.

Raven's mission is to create new scenes and sounds wherever they are lacking. Her journey continues as she brings her signature sound to new audiences around the world.

DLV has carved out a unique niche in Europe’s techno scene with his intense yet eclectic sound. As a DJ, producer, and label owner, his passion and dedication have earned him releases on prestigious labels such as Amelie Lens’s Exhale, KlangKuenstler’s Outworld, and Voxnox. While DLV’s earlier work leaned towards hard techno, his current style is more rhythm-based, playful, and percussive, drawing influences from both old school and contemporary sounds. His background as a hip-hop DJ has contributed to his versatility, enabling him to skillfully integrate vocals and melodies while maintaining his artistic integrity. Originally from Vienna and now based in Berlin, DLV gained recognition with the underground hit “Rave Instructor” and recently launched his own record label, “Misguided.” Supported by artists like Anetha, Frazi.er, and KI/KI, Misguided showcases DLV’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of electronic music.

DLV aims to release more vinyl records, each showcasing a unique facet of Misguided’s vision. Additionally, he is preparing a defining VA compilation to further solidify the label’s distinctive identity. DLV is also focused on refining his sound and working on an album that he plans to perform live in the future. This year, he will release two more remixes: one for an upcoming artist on his label, and the other of his most played track of 2023, “No Love Only Pleasure” by Selective Response, which will be part of that label’s 5-year anniversary.

A new experiment that evolved into a fresh track.

One night, I opened Ableton and started crafting some disco beats which I shared the work-in-progress beat with a group chat of friends visiting Paris for the weekend. My friend Damien responded with an impromptu voice note, playfully singing: "aaaaah chocolat cacao" before we met up the next day.

In a moment of creative whimsy, I sampled Damien's voice note, incorporating it into the beat, then creating the melody from it with a disco synth bassline that smells like Moroder – a wink to my friends and I favourite dancing song of all time: Donna Summer's I feel love.

My opening set for @fox-badge ’s extraordinary Mad Maxx event at Studio 338, London,  where I had the honour of leading a pantheon of female Furiosa DJs in the ThunderDome. My dancers were Post-Apocalypse survivors of tribes and warriors, and I took them travelling through a landscape of music from melodic to driving techno.

The Scumfrog on his new song Tiny Little Human: “"Sure, my quarantine is very comfortable and spacious, but it does evoke thoughts and emotions that I see resonate around me. It addresses how much I have taken for granted the value of basic touch in my daily life. I sense that many people around me are struggling with the sudden absence of human touch. I hope we can remember this frustration when it is once again ok to mingle, and to appreciate the value of a basic hug. We, as humans, made it to the top of the food chain. We essentially 'won earth', but what is that worth if we cannot touch each other?"

The remixes on this stellar package come from Australian production outfit @theoddness (delivering two funky downtempo mixes), U.S. producer @pezzner with a stripped-down haunting mix, and the emerging art collective Voodoo Porn Space Disco delivering a chugging feel-good House anthem.

The video of the song is currently in post-production, and consist of a fan-sourced collection of ‘Legotography’, where the assignment was to photograph a single Lego minifigure in a real-world setting depicting isolation and quarantine. The video is edited together by legendary film and video editor Bob Jenkis (Michael Jackson, Madonna, Chris Isaak)
