Rabbi Raphael Antebi (1830-1919), one of the great rabbis and poets from the Aleppo Jewish community, composed this poem to accompany a popular Turkish melody. Le'Neri Ve'Ori is sung during all times of the year in Syrian and other Sephardi communities, but the references to light make it particularly fitting for the holiday of Chanukah.
