Ecstatic Dance

You are invited to take a moment to contemplate what it means to embody receptivity. In what ways can you embrace and accept what is happening in your life? What can you feel going on in your body, mind, and emotions? Be receptive to it all, and allow the energy to flow into your dance. Often times it is through surrender and receptivity that a clear path forward is provided.

This set was played for Asheville Movement Collective's Sunday morning dance on May 16th. There's a lot of bird medicine in this set through the lyrics of a couple of songs. I didn't plan it out that way, it just happened. 

And so on the day of the dance, while we danced outside in my yard, of course, feeling our call a hawk circled us as Deya Dova's song "Return of the Bird Tribes" began, and then later during our closing circle as Shaunna was sharing her dance experience she noticed a hawk flying above her outside her house where she was dancing. And as she describes this to us all, my housemates and I saw our hawk return to circle above us! Praise the magic of our winged allies who help to sooth the winds of change that cross our skies. We love you!

This set was created as medicine to meet the absolute horror that is happening
in the USA Today.  It is meant to meet and move the range of emotions that many of us are experiencing in response to disregard for human life. It is dedicated to George Floyd and his family. To Breonna Taylor and her family. To Ahmaud Arbery and his family, and to the long string of humans whose life has been cut short because of racism.  It is action time. Please go to www.justiceforbigfloyd.com to learn who George was, and take action. This is a first of many actions we need to commit to to see change at the foundation of this country. 

I invite you to set your space. Get your intentions and prayers ready, and meet yourself right where you are.
