'Gry Maritha’ is a new single released from ‘Lethowsow’, the stunning highly acclaimed debut solo album by the Penzance, Cornwall-based singer-songwriter Kelsey Michael. 
Its title is also the name of the Isles of Scilly freight ship, with the song itself serenading this hardy blue boat in rhapsodic style (think Gerry & The Pacemakers ‘Ferry Cross The Mersey’ in session with The Carpenters).

‘Gry Maritha’ tells multiple stories, touching on the folklore of the waters of the Scilly crossing while simultaneously uncovering hidden moments of a mother and child whose daily rhythms overlap with the ship’s departure and return. Michael navigates us gently over the ocean during the song’s instrumental section, with a magical bubbling wake conjured from the strings of guest harpist Benjin Musiq. By the outro, the squall is unleashed via the powerful playing of Ben Kypreos (double bass) and Greg Dyer (drums). The beauty of the vocal in Lesley Duncan’s ‘Love Song’ (1969) also had an influence on Michael’s arrangement, filling its uplifting chorus with subtly shifting layers of harmony.

Kelsey Michael is a fearlessly experimental singer and songwriter whose first band Minnow released two well-received EPs, the second ‘Out Of The Woods’ on Stereolab label Duophonic. Her songs range from classic piano songwriting influenced by writers such as Carole King, to offbeat contemporary compositions with vocal improvisation, ambient field recorded sounds and shruti-box folk drones. All tell stories of the here and now with nature rich imagery. Kelsey has lived past lives as a theatre performer and movie soundtrack singer; singing on Jocelyn Pook’s score for Stanley Kubrick’s last film ‘Eyes Wide Shut.’ 
In the world of pop music, you’ll find her collaborating with Anglo/Irish avant-pop band ‘The High Llamas’ and endlessly inventive songwriter Sean O’Hagan (of Microdisney), featuring on five of Sean’s albums. Her first job at 23 years of age was as a backing singer duetting with Matt Johnson in The The.

Using her art to speak out on issues close to her heart, Melina Blanco gives a voice to young women struggling with self-doubt and anxiety through this upcoming release. 
Counting explores the deeply personal theme of eating disorders and the cyclical nature of obsession. The song follows a narrator feeling trapped in an anxious state, stuck in a birthday party where her mind is consumed by counting — counting calories, unable to focus on anything else. The 5/4 beat symbolizes the relentless ticking of the clock, echoing the obsession with numbers. As the song progresses and the character leaves the party to return home, the tempo shifts to 6/8, signaling a return to calm after the overwhelming, anxiety-ridden environment. Through this musical journey, Counting captures the inner turmoil and the struggle to break free from the cycle. 
 
“ I wrote Counting to process a time in my life where I felt miserable and unhappy, and I was thinking in a really unhealthy way. By releasing the song, I want to point out how unhealthy it is to be caught in this cycle.” 
 
Melina Blanco is an indie pop singer/songwriter from Buenos Aires, Argentina based in London. Raised on The Beatles and inspired by female artists such as Phoebe Bridgers and Lorde, she uses songwriting to untangle her life experiences and emotions. Over the last year she has been playing live with her all female band such as at 2000Trees Festival and headlining Notting Hill Arts Club.

Damian O'Neill

Joining The Undertones in 1976, to replace his brother Vincent, O’Neill, along with bassist, Mickey Bradley, co-wrote some of the bands most iconic tracks, such as My Perfect Cousin ( their highest charting record ) and fan favourite, It’s Going To Happen. When the band split in 1983, O’Neill formed the critically acclaimed That Petrol Emotion with brother John.  In 1999 The Undertones reformed with O’Neill once again on guitar and songwriting duties. Whilst still in The Undertones, O’Neill released an experimental electronic solo album on Alan McGee’s Poptones label. Since 2012, he has also recorded and performed with The Everlasting Yeah alongside former TPE bandmates. He continues to tour with The Undertones, playing festivals and sold out tours the world over.

Quickly building a strong online following with 20 million views at TikTok, the London-born singer-songwriter Gcielle today unveils her new single ‘Forever Summer’, along with its official video. Featuring two incredible remixes from Slim Tim & Morlando. Both currently smashing the club charts. 

Taken from her forthcoming debut album,  ‘Forever Summer’ sees Gcielle make a captivating introduction to her talents. Her warm, appealing vocal leads a sun-kissed late summer anthem which extends influences stretching from the timeless nostalgia of ABBA through to Kylie Minogue’s radio-friendly pop smashes - all with an undercurrent of irresistible piano-house keys. 
Lyrically, it’s a song born from Gcielle’sown experiences, but one that everyone can relate to - the kind of summer that you wish would never end, and then wish you could always go back to.
 
The song was co-written by Gcielle and recorded at the world famous Abbey Road Studios.
 
Gcielle says, “‘Forever Summer’ is about a summer that I spent with my friends and family in Sardinia. It’s about enjoying summer to the max with joy and love and laughter until the sun goes down.”
 
The ‘Forever Summer’ video provided Gcielle the opportunity to revisit those memories as she returned to Sardinia to shoot the visual. She brings a natural charisma to the video that complements its stunning sun-soaked natural scenery and the always wondrous sight of a school of dolphins leaping out of the water.

Gcielle is coming to the music world a little later than most debut artists, but the release of ‘Forever Summer’ achieves a dream that dates back to childhood. “Love the record! Way to be! Emotionally expansive, tough and pretty…honest and WORTH IT!”

That’s a review to write home about, by any standard, and from anyone.

That it arrived unsolicited from one of the musical firmaments most eclectic and singular of wizards, Evan Dando: the fact that it was then closely followed by an impromptu video message from a nameless, but perfect Pacific beach, inviting Alex Lipinski to “come fishing” and it should be immediately clear that this isn’t ‘same old, same old’.

The Lemonheads figurehead then picked up the phone, again, and invited Alex to open a few of his UK shows centred around the seminal ‘Shame about Ray’ album, starting with the recent Bristol 02 Academy and London Roundhouse.

Naturally, Lipinski said yes.

Liam Gallagher is a fan, which resulted in Alex belting out Elvis standards within the unlikely
domesticity of Liam’s own North London kitchen, in a surreal battle of anthems; the voice of a generation responding with a heartfelt rendition of ‘Acquiesce’ much to the amusement of Bonehead, who just happened to be there because he and Lipinski just happened to be in the middle of the critically acclaimed ‘Phoney’s & The Freaks’ collaboration, which saw them perform live together from Rome to Los Angeles.

His last album, the self-titled ‘Alex’ was produced by The Brian Jonestown Massacre’s Anton Newcombe in Berlin. Hailed by Newcombe as “a young man worth my time and efforts” and also observing that “make no mistake, these songs have all the qualities of timeless music”.

Again, this is not ‘same old, same old’.

No coincidence then that for ‘For Everything Under the Sun’, his recently released third album, Lipinski was sought out by Wolf Alice & Elvis Costello producer Michael Smith who had the same desire as Anton to work with a voice that Rock & Reel magazine describes as “channelling the best tones of Lennon and Orbison and makes them his own”, and songs which BBC Radio 6 legend Tom Robinson declares “sweep you up and carry you along.

Released digitally, across all platforms; as well as on vinyl and CD through www.alexlipinski.com: The new album ‘For Everything Under the Sun’ ensured that Alex performed on festival main stages across The UK in 2022, with his band ‘The Crown Electric’.

On the strength of those performances, one of which was caught by Marc Almond’s musical director, Neal X – Alex played alongside Marc in Berlin’s iconic Passionskirche: and was then invited to continue as sole support for Marc’s sold out UK tour: Bringing with it the chance to perform in some iconic venues, including The London Palladium, and Birmingham Symphony Hall. Alex is currently in Europe supporting Marc, again at Marc’s request. 

This is a truly articulate piece of work, from a songwriter who has served his apprenticeship. A lot of miles covered in what he himself acknowledges has been the only choice he ever had. From caressing sympathy to full-throated resentment, Lipinski has grabbed unwary listeners from the West Country to Krakow, Berlin & New York, since he first left Somerset to become a crucial habitué of Soho’s legendary, lost, 12-Bar Club.

The brand-new single, ‘Idiot Station’ is scheduled for release in May 2023 on Marquee Records/Universal Music. To mark the release of ‘Idiot Station’ Alex returns to play live up and down the country in a series of in-store semi-acoustic performances, from Glasgow to Brighton, and including a drop-in at Microdot, in Manchester, because Brian Cannon, and Bonehead are mates, and they asked nicely.
