The Funk Hunters 2014 SHAMBHALA MIX

The future dripping with molten silver, drenched with dense chords. Over-flowingly maximal at times, freshly understated at others, this EP takes you one step closer to the infinite.

Track A ‘We Here’. The journey begins in the not too distant future. A smoky bar with a silky synthetic Rhodes as the centrepiece. Classic vibes quickly overflow into a cacophony of chords, a sonic waterfall crashing down onto a thunderous sub-laden beat. It’s hefty.

On the B-Side we have a straight up East Coast collaboration, combining forces in a slightly different fare than you normally might have expected. Punchy drums & handclaps seemingly magnetise to the Velcro™-like pulsating synths. It’s like a robotic Rick James riding his titanium white horse into the sunset. You might not ever never know when you will see him next.

Mochipet and his friends at A​bleton, Serato, Keith McMillen, iZotope, DJ TechTools, Drum Pads 24, and The Untz recently setup a remix contest to discover new producers in the world of experimental electronic music. What they received was nothing short of amazing. Mochipet and his panel of judges (Z-Trip, Ill.Gates, Mr. Lif and edIT of The Glitch Mob) had a hard time picking a winner. In the end, surprised newcomer Pockitz (later discovered to be Matt of Love & Light) took the medal. Everything on this release is top notch. 24 remixes from producers around the world to Mochipet's seminal Glitch-Hop release "Psilocybin Samurai" Enjoy!

Rex Dasteppa is the brainchild of Charlotte based producer/dj Lorin Wade. The Rex Dasteppa sound focuses on a mix of dark, funky, bass driven beats with a tech edge. Many of his tracks have been featured on various shows on the #1 worldwide breaks focused radio station, BreaksFM.

As a fixture of the southeast club scene for over 20 years, Lorin has a distinct and diverse djing style that pulls from all genres of music. Alex Mei pours her energy and soul into her sets. She is a malleable DJ and takes the listener on an enticing journey in every which direction. She is unpredictable in the best possible way. A skilled pianist, and a composer at heart, Miss Mei was exposed to dance music at a young, ripe, age, and she hit the dance floor shaking. Genre’s have no limits to Alex Mei, so she has labeled her mixing style as the ‘lizard twerk’. From residencies in Kelowna to heading up Blueprint’s Femme Fatal, she has played alongside and collaborated with a diverse array of artists from Datsik, Perkulat0r, Neon Steve, Addison groove, Featurecast, Dimond Saints, and Tokimonsta to name a few. Alex has taken her sleek bass style all over the map, from Costa Rica to Australia and back, headlining our Canadian festivals. She is ready to play to any crowd, on any equipment no matter how janky. Alex Mei has some tricks up her sleeve that you won’t want to miss.
