This week’s guest artist, Funkanizer (aka Mike Pal), comes to us all the way from Greece. Mike’s first foray into music was as a bass player and for the last three years he has been making his mark on the international Ghetto Funk scene from his native Athens. His latest EP, Groove Gigolos a co-production with S Strong on Scour Records, has been a huge success. And if you scour the Internet for quality bass driven music like we do, then you know Mike’s work is supported by some of the best bass music blogs around including Ghetto Funk (Spinforth’s Scour), HongKongPingPong and Free Breaks Blog just to name a few. For his appearance in The Armory this week, Mike has all of the four major food groups well represented (ghetto funk, glitch hop, breakbeat and drum and bass) in this fabulous 55-minute mix set. Aroop Roy is a UK artist and producer, who's music blends together the organic elements of jazz, afro, latin and funk with the deeper edge of house and disco. His productions have been supported worldwide by numerous tastemakers and DJs including Gilles Peterson, Atjazz, Karizma, Soul Clap, Jimpster, Dj Spinna and Rainer Trueby.

Aroop has released music on a variety of labels including Freestyle, Gamm, Basic Fingers and House of Disco. His recentTalkin Bout Life (HOD) and Kampana Classics EPs have been hugely successfully with vinyl selling out and digital EPs topping the charts.

From tropical parties and jazz nights, to house and techno clubs, Aroop has DJ'd in 5 continents and had residencies in London, Geneva and Tokyo, where he played an important part in the underground scene with hugely popular and innovative club nights absolute!!, Exposure and Culture.

Other highlights include his highly acclaimed compilation CD absolute!! Sounds From Tokyo, and an invitation to do a guest mix on Gilles Peterson's Worldwide radio show. He was also selected for the Red Bull Music Academy in Melbourne.
