Having impressed with his remix on the inaugural Alfa Romero release, burgeoning Mexican producer Betoko is back to head up this release with his excellent original, “Dark Side of My Mind”. Italian maestro Leon provides the remix this time, taking the track down a different but equally rewarding route.
Betoko has already garnered a reputation for producing a distinctive sound, a trait which he summons with ease again right from the start of “Dark Side of My Mind”. The highly rated producer cleverly uses a subtle melody to create and airy atmosphere and laidback aesthetic whilst at the same time creating real drive from the track using underlying swirling bass and purposeful rhythms. The result is a mood that is at once calm and energized, allowing the listener to float into a dream-like state whilst still locked onto the dancefloor.

As for the first release the promo video was directed by Vito Di Rosa.

Italian producer Leon finds a more intense tone with his remix, allowing the grumbling bassline to come to the fore and drive the track as a whole. Skipping percussion provides dynamic rhythms which when added to the thumping 4/4s creates an intoxicating and mesmeric bottom end.

ARR004 unearths the latest edition to the Alfa Romero family, Cardace & Perazzini with some tight, underground tech that makes for perfect listening on these long, dark and wintery dancefloor expeditions. The inimitable and adventurous remix is this time courtesy of the always adaptable Cipy.
Danilo Cardace and Elia Perazzini (Cardace & Perazzini) all well know for their ability to infuse their tracks with strong personalities, a feat they achieve with aplomb once again on “Whales”. There is a sinister atmosphere throughout thanks to the persistent, grinding bass that lingers in the undergrowth for the tracks entirety. The hushed spoken vocal adds to the building tension but punchy beats and a fluid bassline inject the energy that makes this an instant dancefloor weapon.

Killer whales are on the loose in the video conceived and directed by Manuel Bozzi and Thomas Pizzinga. Instead of looking to hunt and kill, these curious animals are seemingly more intent on exploring the human world around them whilst practicing their dance moves.

Always an influential presence in the Alfa Romero cockpit, label co-owner Lorenzo Bartoletti moves into the driving seat for the label’s 5th outing. Wasting no time, the hotly rated producer flies head first into a wildly intoxicating bassline that lays the foundations of the track throughout. Moving with seemingly unrestrained freedom, the bassline is joined by funkified tech beats to create a truly modern dancefloor cut that is as unique as it is unpredictable. Bristling with an old-school energy, “Smokey Job” is the perfect encapsulation of the debaucherous vibe of rave but infused with a contemporary palette for top-notch production value. Obscure new name Charles Blossfeldt delivers an ominous single adding to allure of Alfa Romero’s big top crew. Local boy and analog-lover Blossfeldt’s sophomore production sets the organic tone of gritty, bass-driven, and deep house single. Pairing name and sound, the fittingly-titled single is an intricate show of Teasing synths. Subtle pulsing drums line technical percussion to craft a framework worthy of the stellar leads. At the first introduction of Charles’ funky yet sharp synth work, it’s easy to tell where his influences draw. 
Enlisting the help of Aquarius Heaven on vocals, the Berlin singer laces a tough verse showcasing his underground experience gained from releases on tastemaker labels like Wolf + Lamb and Circus Company. The passionate lyrics compliment dancing synths for elegantly dim take on deep house. Blossfeldt’s arrangement packages the tune into a snug underground hymn.

An eloquent rework from Caruan, who despite being a
fresh new talent in the studio is an artist with more than 20 years
DJ experience. Having honed his ear in his home town of Pisa,
his dancefloor education incorporates everything from Chicago
house and disco to Detroit techno.
Caruan’s eclectic roots can be heard in his remix
as his low slung version has a machine funk
that more than suits its “80s of Love” title. Rich
in synths and melody, the track has a loosely
sequenced analogue sound that’s rough
around the edges, raw, and expertly composed.
Very much a game of two halves, this well rounded
release will no doubt find its way into the sets of
DJ’s playing everything from cosmic disco to
melodic house, and deep techno.

My Favorite Robot, are a Canadian duo consisting of Jared Simms and
Voytek Korab. As well as being successful solo artists, the guys
head up the namesake My Favorite Robot Records, and along
with releases on their own label have featured on leading imprints
such as Sasha’s Last Night On Earth, Visionquest, Click Records
and No.19 Music.
The original mix of “Mild Peril” has a fusion of congas
with fast flowing rim shots that complement the bursts of
pulsating basslines. Cosmic pads add some epic melody to
the chic and stripped back eloquence of the track, and like
the sun rising, it grows in warmth as each layer builds with sleek
modulation.

The video shows a girl working on a puzzle of herself doing the same puzzle. With the addition of the final piece, she short-circuits her very existence and gets lost in the loop.

Alfa Romero is the brand new label which the acclaimed duo of the same name will use as a vehicle in which to ride that shared vision. Exploring the landscape of electronic music with an equal measure of artistic freedom and burning passion, Alfa Romero’s journey will set off from directly under the disco ball.

Alfa Romero formed as a DJ / production outfit in 2006 and have since released on the likes of Ministry of Sound, Fabric, Freak n’ Chic, Seperfreq and Supernature. The project has grown organically over the years and now Tuscan artists Prudo and Lorenzo Bartoletti who are behind the driving seat, are expanding the Alfa Romero ethos with a new label of their own.

Merging the traditions of Italian dance music with modern flair, Alfa Romero will foster an individual and charismatic sound, showcasing a roster of electronic music’s leading components.
Distinctly Italian in flavour, the label will deliver fresh club music with added style and charisma. Individually produced videos will accompany each release, every one displaying the many idiosyncrasies that make Alfa Romero the vibrant and original imprint they are. Keeping their approach clear and focused, each release will be made up of simply two tracks; one original and one remix.
