Soundscape Maa was released by the Istitute For Alien Research (ifarlabel) in a compilation entitled Sonder.

The composition combines everyday sounds such as footsteps on different surfaces, the tearing of paper, lighting a match, playing tennis, clapping hands, horses clattering, machine noises and the like with voice samples from my archive, which the Dutch mezzo-soprano singer Jannie Pranger made available to me some time ago and of which a few have been electroni- cally manipulated. These two components are tghtly interwoven and form an exciting, multi-layered and multi-faceted musique concrète.
The everyday sounds are treated in the same way as the vocal sounds; for example, in the way one deals with the sounds of percussion instruments, which are also largely noisy. A drum roll, a cymbal crash, a rattle ... or an electric saw, a creaking door, shattering glass, the impact of a golf ball, a swarm of bees, etc. The mezzo-soprano voice involved is extremely varied. Snapping or hissing sounds, whispering, speaking, singing, whistling, blowing and every conceivable sound that can be produced with the voice are included. Earth is the only planet known to date that sounds; where we are constantly surrounded by sounds and noises produced by humans and animals, wind, water, etc. I wanted to represent and celebrate a tiny section of this unique sonic diversity of planet Earth in my composition. The word “maa” in the title is the Finnish word for earth/land.

The hidden beauty of concrete sounds v.1

Session found in the folder: audio exam, contains several files that I am (finally) examining from a backup disc scan.
There is a lot of interesting material in my opinion.
The first few minutes suggested the title of the track (the original file name was 10.04.23.112023_04_10 11_49_41 2).
I'm not sure if it's really material from 2023, and I haven't yet checked if I have a folder containing this session.
The only editing done so far has been mid panning of the tracks and a cut of equal length, as it was about 17 minutes long.
Listening to it, I can assume that I used AAS's Chromaphone software, probably triggered by Mooges software via MIDI.
Chromaphone is an excellent physical emulation tool, very interesting for creating timbres and samples.

Further refinements may be made in the future.
