London based singer songwriter who is phoenixing from his 7 year celibacy from music, nose diving into his world of intricate sounds.

Founded in Brighton (UK) in the spring of 2012, Southern Sunrise are a band who are bringing together the sounds of country, blues and folk pop. Inspired by the likes of Laura Marling, Noah and the Whale, The Civil Wars and Fleet Foxes, they create mellow, warm and story‐telling pop songs.

The brains behind the project are Shonagh Macleod, born and raised in York (UK), on lead vocals, and Arjan Pieters, originally from Meers-­Elsloo (NL), on guitar. Their paths crossed in Brighton (UK), where they both studied and started the band. The name ‘Southern Sunrise’ is symbolic of their love for the South Coast city and the conception of the band.

They released their debut EP Brighton on the 1st of June 2013, as a testimony to the British seaside town. After a successful UK tour following the release of their EP the band relocated to the Netherlands to pursue their musical career. The band was joined by bassist Daan Gooren and Remco Gerritsen on the keys.

With this new formation, a second successful EP tour followed, this time throughout the Netherlands. The band have played established Dutch venues like Tivoli Oudegracht, Mezz Breda, and De Nieuwe Nor, opening for golden record winner Ozark Henry and Douwe Bob, winner of Dutch TV show ‘The Best Singer‐Songwriter Of Holland.’ Besides that they played the main hall of Paradiso Amsterdam, the most prestigious venue of The Netherlands and shared festival line‐ups with the likes of Miles Kane, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis and Mister & Mississippi. They also enjoyed regional and national airplay and played live on radio show‘Met Het Oog Op Morgen’ on Radio 1.  

The band hit the ground running in 2014 with two successful live tours throughout The Netherlands. Their most recent achievement is the release of their second EP. The new EP will be released on the 27th of September on Southern Music Records. 

Hi :D My name is Joshua Alfaro Claudet. Im 18 years old. Im from a tiny town that goes by the name of Simi Valley in California. Ive been songwriting since i was 15, but this is my first successful crack at it, i think its cus of the inspiration, which was my gf:). So yeah this the first of hopefully many songs to come gimme feed back if you want :-)

Southern Music Records is a small independent record label and management company currently based in the south of The Netherlands. The company manages and supports independent artists and helps them with the development of their careers.  

Founded in 2013 by Brighton Institute of Modern Music graduate Arjan Pieters in Brighton (UK), the company released its first record on June 1st 2013. The company doesn’t focus on specific musical genres but focusses on collaborating with hard working artists who have a real passion for their music.

DIY is an important aspect of our workflow. Because we’re both entrepreneurs and artists, we like to be closely involved in both the creative and business aspects that come in to play with releasing music. Of course we can’t do everything ourselves, that’s why Southern Music Records works together with carefully chosen industry professionals to ensure the best possible assistance and guidance for the careers of its artists.
