Drumspyder weaves a web of percussive rhythm, melody, and line. Framedrums, tambourines, and  low whistles mingle with bass beats and ethereal atmospheres, bringing the Celtic and British Islands traditional music into vital contemporary expression.

Scott Sterling has always followed the path of rhythm. Over the course of a long journey through diverse forms of drumming and dance music: avant-garde circus, slinky bellydance troupes, and acclaimed bass-music productions, the one constant has been the beat of the drum. 

Over the past several years he has specialised in the realm of framedrums and tambourines. Influenced by modern framedrum masters such as Glen Velez and David Kuckhermann, but also inspired by the rhythms of the Irish bodhran, he follows a distinctive path through the world of contemporary percussion: fusing his experience with cross-cultural framedrum techniques and Arabic rhythms with a new-found love of Celtic dance music. 

To this rhythmic foundation he adds traditional melodies (played on low whistles and various keyboards) drawn from the folk music of Ireland, Scotland, and England , as well as the rich repertoire of Medieval and Renaissance music from the British Isles. 

Out of the alchemy of rhythm, melody, and his long experience in dance music production, he has forged a unique approach to Celtic and Medieval fusion, where elements of trance, bass-heavy electronica, and ethereal atmospheres mingle into an intoxicating brew. His overall ambition is to connect traditional rhythms and melodies with the contemporary dancefloor.

Amaluna is the cosmic collaboration of New Zealand-born Tara aka FlibbertiGibbet and Zimbabwean-born Wendy aka Małpka who first connected on the electric dance floors of London’s vibrant psytrance scene. 

Shattered Barriers promoter Abhi Trance first booked them to play a back-to-back set at his event in April 2017 and they enjoyed it so much they decided to do it again in September for top London night Tribal Village at the Steelyard, where they played a high energy closing set in the second room. This confirmed that they were definitely on to something good, and so Amaluna was officially launched at Astral Circus at London’s Electrowerkz in November 2017, where they closed the alternative room after one of their favourite producers Ben Coda.

2018 saw them make their main room debut at Tribal Village, warm up the Sunshine Deck at the Psymera Boat Party and play an epic three sets at Noisily Festival, where they warmed up for Saturday’s Zenon takeover on the Liquid Stage and managed to blag a second set between Breger and Evil Oil Man after the third DJ didn’t turn up – sharing the stage with their all-time musical idols Grouch and Sensient in the process. They capped the day off with a downtempo set at the Bassport FM stage, where they played a few of their favourite bass tracks.

A multi-genre duo with an interest in the experimental evolution of music, they love breaking musical boundaries with eclectic tracks to drive the dance floor to new levels. The diversity of their combined tastes unites psychedelic bass lines, glitchy melodies and quirky compositions to create something truly unique.

Thanks to their passion for seeking out and sharing new sounds, they transmit a powerful energy from the decks to the dance floor. Signed to Free-Spirit Records, after releasing their ‘Lunar Phase’ compilation and playing at some of their favourite parties & festivals such as Astral Circus, Tribal Village, World Lounge Project, the Psymera Boat Party, Planet Shroom, Psy-Sisters, Noisily, Indigenous and Anthropos Festivals, they’re still buzzing from playing at the awe-inspiring Tribe of Frog stage at Boomtown Fair this summer alongside some of their favourite DJs and producers.

Odyssee Berlin marks Amaluna’s European debut and they’re putting together an extra-special set that showcases their eclectic sounds to welcome in the New Year!
