This is the first EP that I'm releasing on a "Name Your Price" basis. The decision to give away something for free that means so much to me, and into which I put a lot of work wasn't easy. However, I wanted "Discovery" to be accessible to as many people as possible. 

I hope this EP helps you to disconnect from the turbulent world we live in, at least temporarily, no matter what your beliefs are. Because in the end we are all humans.

"Wanderlust" started out as a cinematic sketch, with the intention of it being a birthday gift. It was never meant to end up on the EP, however, after some experimentation I liked the track so much that I decided to append it to the existing tracks and make it the 5th on the EP.

I chose to call this track "Zeitgeist", because it sounded uplifting and adventurous. This perfectly captured my mood while writing it. I also liked the fact that "Zeitgeist" is a word in both English and German, because I like to believe that music is a universal language, and this title was a reflection of that theory.

I made "City Of Dreams", because I was unable to sleep. As staring at the ceiling, while lying in my bed, quickly became boring and I seemed unable to fall asleep, I decided to pull an all-nighter to write this track.

Despite being quite different to my usual style and to the other songs included on the EP, "It Takes Time" came along very quickly. 

It started out as a test, as I desperately wanted to try and use the 30 year old tape deck of my dad. I came up with some chords, and sent them through the tape deck, which ended up being the intro to the song. The drums have a four over the floor beat, which was influenced by the vast amounts of German techno I had heard previous to making "It Takes Time".

This might quite possibly be my favorite track on the EP. 

I woke up in the middle of the night, thinking to myself that "Discovery" would be a suitable name for my EP. However, when I started working on ideas for the title track, nothing seemed to quite work out. So I decided to challenge myself and sample something in my kitchen and turn it into a pluck. I ended up filling a cognac glass with water, until it sounded somewhat close to a B note, and then hit it with a mallet. This is what I ended up using as a starting point for "Discovery".
