This is a track from the first album, "Ancient Sufi Invocations and Forgotten Songs from Aleppo" in the Sacred Voices of Syria series out April 19, 2014 on Lost Origin Sound Series & Electric Cowbell Records. "Ancient Sufi Invocations and Forgotten Songs from Aleppo" was recorded by Jason Hamacher in Aleppo, one of the world’s oldest cities, in October of 2010.  The recording took place at night in the courtyard of a 500 year-old house. The songs are haunting, delicate and beautiful. After the recording, Hamacher asked what the songs meant and was told. “This is how we fight terrorism!”  Any questions please email info@lostorigins.com

A beautiful and powerful prayer composed in verse by Sidi Muhammad bin Nasir al-Dar`i (d. 1085H/1674CE), founder of the Nasiriyya Zawiya in the Moroccan village of Tamgrout. 

This exquisite rendition by the traditional singers of Fez was recorded and produced by Sandala (formerly Alhambra) Productions under the guidance of Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, may Allah preserve him.

Nur al-huda

Al Kauthar means abundance in Arabic. And is the name of a river in Paradise.

The unique sound of  Al Kauthar is due to a  synthesis of different musical  styles: Original compositions  of a more Western classical character  with influences from both Celtic and  Flamenco traditions. Arrangements of traditional songs from Arabic Andalusian and  Turkish sources.

Music which has the  power to touch the spirit of every person  whatever their background, and  nourish the soul.
